Ponybortions? Also, we A, know nothing about pony abortion statistics, and B, Twilight wouldn't use something as trivial as size to determine value.

This is completely in character. The very second they come into existence, their unique DNA full of potential is as existent as you or me.

Who's going to argue with Twilight?

In fact, which Pony would favor abortion, and not think you were horrible for considering it?

Rarity? I doubt that she'd consider anything appalling to her.
Applejack? The pure of heart giver? I doubt that even more.
Rainbow Dash?! The ultra conservative, military girl with the mind of a protector? Fat chance.
Fluttershy?!? She would be appalled by the very thought of it.
Pinkie Pie?!?! She'd probably call the day they were conceived as their Birth-Birthday.

If you hate me for my views, and taking a psychological profile of each of them(my expertise) and coming up negative for all of them, go right ahead.

I do not do this for rudeness. In fact I would prefer a country with no opposing political parties, that could mix the most moral and intelligent parts of both. Where all moral religions are accepted by others.

But I will not ask for forgiveness. My conviction will always be higher then the weak-hearted.

I am Pro-Life.

Nobody "Favors abortion" and nobody is "Pro-abortion"

Nobody thinks "Boy, I love getting abortions, it sure is great! I get knocked up just so I can get abortions!" Talk to any pro-choice advocate and they'll agree that abortions should be both freely available and almost unknown.

However we (humans in the USA) live in a shitty, imperfect world, with morons who insist on refusing to allow proper sex education in schools, and who do their best to stop anyone from having access to birth control, yet when there's an unintended pregnancy these self righteous assholes would never dream of offering help.

And with medical costs and other expenses being what they are n this county, an unwanted pregnancy can very easily result in a lifetime of struggle and poverty for both the parent and the unwanted child.

And you know what? That's what the "pro-life" assholes want, because they aren't about anything like caring for children, they only care about controlling and punishing women.

And a poor mother who's struggling every day to get by isn't going to have time to be politically active, or get in touch with other women, or maybe even vote, and the bastards win.

In this situation, Equestria would most likely be the hypothetical "perfect world" in which nopony ever has health problems, unwanted children, or other dilemmas caused by bearing and/or raising a child. There would be no real reason to have an abortion.

It should go without saying that Equestria is not similar to the real world in this way.

@misnamed I'm #1164484, and OP. That's kind of the joke: Twilight doesn't quite grasp the concept of a poster, and makes it excessively verbose and well-cited.

Um, Kalinda, I'm pretty sure there are lots of pro-life organizations offering help.

Also, >implying "don't have sex if you're not ready for the result of having sex" is improper.

^ Agreed. Also, their are lots of orphanage agencies. Its a sucky situation, but there are lots of less horrible options. Talk to abortion survivors to get a better perspective.

Kalinda, try to avoid statements of the form "all X" or "no X". There are some (albeit not many) who think abortion is a good thing. There are also plenty of pro-life people who aren't like you describe. "Pro-life" and "conservative" aren't synonymous.

Also, I notice you haven't made any substantive points, just ad hominems.

@771 Equestria is by no means utopian.

@ChronoM There's a bit more to it than just DNA; a spleen has DNA. As Twi says, after the sperm and egg meet there is a new organism.

@005 I know that, but abortion just seems like it would be a non-issue in Equestria. Most ponies are pretty financially-stable, health problems can be more easily cured thanks to magic, and pony sexuality seems to be quite subdued compared to human sexuality (so, rape and sleeping around aren't likely to be issues).

The emotional stress of a situation that would lead to an abortion decision and the ethical agonization over its morality and consequences is so alien to the milieu of the show that I don't really think we have the tools to say for sure what anypony would really think on the matter.

For what it's worth, my guess is that, since telepathy exists in Equestria, ponies would have general agreement on abortions being permissible at any point before telepathic contact with the foal is possible, and impermissible afterwards, since that would make a pretty reliable standard of ponyhood. Completely inapplicable to human society, of course.

Why would everypony be in agreement that telepathic contact is a good standard? Sounds like a pretty poor standard for ponyhood to me.

We don't even know what the rules for telepathy are. It may not be for some time after the foal is born that contact can be made, and it may not be possible at all with some ponies. There is also the question of the skills of the pony doing the telepathy.
