In this episode, Spike took his first steps toward adulthood. |

Should've went with a Mass Effect joke. |

Since pheonixes seem to be immortal in this show, perhaps dragons are the only way of keeping them in a manageable number. They might overrun Equestria otherwise, and its not like we've seen any other predators for them. |

He'd be a lot more empathetic if he didn't call his pet the same nickname he was bullied with. |

@Clopitor
Although if it's only the teenage dragons that hunt them..... why isn't Equestria a burned down wasteland yet? |

"Don't do to others what you wouldn't like done to you."
A sentence he has learned that day... |

If the Dragons can swim in lava, then how does phoenix flame burn them?
Unless Phoenixes are hotter. |

A little part of me was hoping that right after the "like I was..." part, that Spike would grow to his maximum size from Secret of my Excess. Only this time because of his desire to do the right thing, showing him he can grow just fine from being himself. |

@2271
It didn't really burn the dragons, it just left some ash on his face. The dragon was unharmed. |

@Zancrow - I might have if I played ME. Closest I could get was a vague D&D reference. |

"Spike unlocked The Power Of Understanding!" |

@Clopitor - Actually, it's not clear whether Equestrian phoenixes are immortal or not. They should be, seeing as a phoenix is a symbol of immortality. But then, there's only supposed to be one Phoenix, not families of them. YMMV |

My headcanon about the Equestrian Phoenixes is that they can only die of old age and lack of regeneration, or if their ashes are separated in some way before they can regenerate, like being dissolved in water or digested in something's stomach (like a dragon).
And suddenly from that last sentence, I'm now thinking that Phoenixes are the true Timelords of Equestria. |
