Well since you're an anthropology major shouldn't you be doing field work? In that case you should blend in with the community and study the "culture". I.e. go to the 4chan /co/ and /mlp/ boards, equestria daily, ponychan, reddit/mylittlepony ... etc.
Besides there was a serious study done by some sociologists awhile back so you can just use that data. |

@128: Anth is not my major, just a class I need to get into the art program. In terms of blending, I've been doing that since I started watching the show a couple months ago, I have a pretty good idea about the overall culture, but I need solid data for this particular project, hence why that other study won't work, despite being absurdly well done. |

interesting. ProfofHoers is the only person with a negative response to the poll that wasn't a complete asshat about it, and even then, it seemed that he was only negative in the sense that he didn't think his honest results would benefit the image of the community.
For the OP, I have to say that from the perspective of anthropology, you're already biasing the results of the poll directly from stating that you want to dispel stereotypes. Now instead of getting purely honest answers, you're going to get a ton of people who are either going to lie to try to "help" dispel the myths, or people who will lie to deliberately sabotage the attempts to dispel stereotypes. |

@GreyAcumane: It's questionable just how much this survey will change our image, considering hard data is often ignored, however I feel I can at least try.
As to the answers... Though I wish I could strap everyone to a lie detector, I can't, so I'm just putting faith in everyone the answer honestly. As for those trying to sabotage results, so far I've had 3, they were not very good at it and their answers will be removed from their submissions. |
