I wont read it because its fucking overrated, because people SAY it is. And if a bunch of people say that then there must be some kind of truth behind it, or its a conspiracy. People say FFVII is overrated, i played it. Got my mind blown, never played it again, didnt even finish it. |

^It´s okay till chapter 8, afterwards its one huge fucking contest of mindblowing wtf reasoning, everpony even the worst enemies loving Nyx while she´s being all emo and yadda yadda about her apperance/past/power/etc. and doing magical stuff that´s even fucking impossible for Celestia, Luna and Twilight Sparkle combined.
Heck, it had been a decent read if Twilight GoT hanged and killed (i say that as a huge Twilight Sparkle fan) but no! Suddenly out of nowhere a magical spell never heard of, never written before in the story and never even fucking tested happens out of nowhere cause of a whim and baam everything is alright. What the fucking hay? Heard some stuff got rewritten, but i won´t read it a second time through ever again. Won´t stop people from loving it, but if they can say it was great, i can say it was a huge disapointment for me in the end. |

I have to agree with 031. After Celestia comes in, the plot goes downhill hard. Even a bit before, there are things that almost break Suspension of Disbelief.
It should have ended on a high note, when paranoia and fear were the primary antagonists. |

nyxabuse: Derpy actually mattered because the show got changed. Nyx was trivial at best. So so many people don't like Past Sins and nobody was out to purposely hurt the show over it. |

People keep making it because of the massive fit the haters threw over it. By attacking it, they attracted attention to it (expanding the number of people who read it) and caused fans to become more fervent. Basically the same phenomenon that resulted in FiM getting big.
The enthusiasm for the first few chapters was very high among fans, but it probably would have died down eventually, especially when it began to sag in quality around the middle. The haters made sure that didn't happen, and some of the more thought out critiques (not the hipster cynicism ones) convinced the author to rewrite things to make the story more solid, which helped it in the long run. tl;dr - We should all thank the haters for making Nyx a permanent part of the fandom. |
