Ripping in two... sounds like she has to share a part of her soul with Rainbow Dash to bring her back to life. Doesn´t sound like a spell you could use often to heal everypony. :/
If it´s a heal/revive-spell, that is... Please be a revive-spell which ends with the one being brought back to life getting attracted to the caster cause of the soul-link!!! >.< |

In most fiction, sharing life force isn't the same as transferring your magic. The action is far far greater then using 100% of your power at once. Give too much, you die, and its not an action that could be easily repeated. Its a truly severe strain.
The second possibility is that she's drawing too much power from the Element of Magic that granted her her power. Let us not forget, Twilight was naturally talented, but not born with her magical power, it was granted to her to be a proper Element of Magic. The Magic of Order and its nature has caused her to go crazy several times now. If she is pushing herself too much using it, her mind might be overcome by its power, which would explain why her eyes and hair are going all Akuma. |
