Let be reminded that the only people not allowed to depict Mohammed are people of Muslim faith. People who aren't Muslim do not have to adhere to this rule in any way what so ever. So yeah, not a single feather was given. |

@ Sekel, in theory. In practice any depictions of living things, real or mythic (e.g. animals, humans, jinn, and cartoon ponies), will be condemned and excoriated. That's why Islamic art is restricted to geometric shapes. Some Muslims are so extreme as to deface the tombs of Muhammad's mother, let alone the giant Buddha statues in Afghanistan.

@092: Because those people are extremist who use fear and violence to try to stop others from doing things that simply offend them. These people exist in every culture or group. EVERY SINGLE ONE. Just because a group of people get worked up and act crazy does not mean they are right. HOWEVER, if you bend to their demands, it means they get their way, because you let them win. |

Technically not even all muslims are forbidden from depicting Muhammed, since that is never mentioned in the Quran. The tabboo of depicting him comes from the Sunnahs, which not all muslims consider accurate. |
