Actually the ongoing unity of the races is what causes magic to be supercharged in the way it is.
And I think that just means that Unicorns, to be great magicians, also need friends. That's why you left Canterlot, right Lyra? To go find real non-shallow friends and discover the true meaning of Friendship like Twilight? *headcanon* |

Can't remember if it was ever directly said, but I assume that every pony has an inherent amount of magic within them. I mean, if you're a colorful talking mini-horse, I would think you're a magical creature either way. |

I think that every type of pony has some kind of magic. It makes no sense that pegasi can fly with their tiny wings. So it's their magic.
And earth ponies' magic is the ability to grow and build stuff. |

In my totally non-canon clopfic I am writing Magic is an innate force that resides in all things. Unicorns just have a special conduit to use and direct it in a more straightforward and apparent way.
It's sort of like wifi internet. There could be a signal but you can only use it with a device that can work with that signal. |

According to Word of God, Pegasii and Earth Ponies also have magic, Cloud-Walking and Agriculture Expertise respectively. |

If the word of God is expected, then its my headcanon that each race has its pros and cons.
Earth ponies have Agriculture expertise, but no magical powers at will. Unicorns have magic, but have no knowledge of agriculture and are physically less strong. Pegasi have flight and Weather Control, but have no knowledge of agriculture and are naturally more aggressive because of the Greek war pony heritage. |

It's not even really "expertise". It's more "only Earth Ponies can communicate enough with nature to even make plants grow". Might be some odd exceptions, like Fluttershy being so close to animals. I'm sure that's more of an Earth Pony trait on a general basis. |

In Hearth's Warming Eve, we see AJ('s character) make a plant sprout visibly grow in a few seconds, so the earth ponies definitely have some magic |

You could also argue that everypony has at least enough magic to make cutie marks appear on their flanks, unless Celestia is monitoring fillies at all times to magically slap one on. |

It's Faust canon, all three races of pony have equal magic, though individuals vary in power among all three kinds. Pinkie Pie's Pinkie Sense for example is not less powerful than Twilight's magic. Unicorns are just the only kind who can deliberately control their magic. Pegasi fly, walk on clouds, and control the weather. Some are better at it than others. Earth ponies are connected to the land and are physically strongest. Faust said that if a unicorn, a pegasus, and an earth pony all had identical farms and did identical work on them, the earth pony's farm would produce far more food. Their magic generally blesses the land they are on. They can also interact with animals. As ManeFlame pointed out above, there are exceptions like Fluttershy. But unlike unicorns they can't actually control it, it just comes from them. |
