Well it's safe to assume that he will grow wings. Every other dragon shown has wings, he's hardly the only wingless dragon in the world. |

He didn't have wings when he grew to full size, he was still an Earth Dragon, and I believe there are Dragons that don't have wings. Maybe the reason Spike was the chosen egg for Twilight's exam was because Earth Dragon eggs are so rare, and that Celestia knew that Twilight would hatch him and find her talent. |

^ It is true he didn't have wings in that episode, but I imagine that greed is just one of the ways dragons grow. I would expect that he'd also become an adult in time. |

The fact that the other dragons pointed out the fact that he didn't have wings--"Did you fly here on your mommy's back?" etc.--makes it pretty clear the wings come naturally with age and that not having them is a sign of physical immaturity. |

Wasn't there another dragon without wings? The one with a small body but huge tail that tail-wrestled with Spike, can't remember if he had wings or not. |
