NOW YOU WILL KNOW MY PAIN, LITTLE BIRDY |
| Anonymous #1151988 4 months ago |
And now Twilight is a GMILF |
| Blaze-Bolt #1151998 4 months ago |
It was more of the parents unknowing to the other egg and they so caught up in trying to save their other children that they forgot about the other egg. Anyway, If Pewee (I think that what Spike called him) does show up in other episodes, I'll be more than happy. Though I would like to know where Owliscious went. |
| Fuzzy_Logic #1152003 4 months ago |
merriweather williams did a great-ass job with one of the episodes, I forget which
but I think that when her name (his name?) shows up at the beginning of an episode it's safe to assume it's going to have some really dumb shit go down at least once this stood out in particular as just being obnoxiously awful for an ending. Spike goes on this big quest because, due to being taken from his parents as an egg (presumably), he has no idea who he is, where he comes from, or who his parents are. So at the end he...keeps...an egg? I mean, sure, he can tell the phoenix where it came from, but is it different enough to not be completely asinine considering the circumstances surrounding it? "Where do you come from? Well, phoenix that I stole from its family and ketp as a pet, I went on a quest to find out who I was after I realized I had no idea, due to being stolen from my family and kept as a pet. Then I stole you from your family and kept you as a pet! :D" and that's the story of how future spike got his eyes pecked out by the flaming beak of retribution |
| NightJack #1152004 4 months ago |
No, the family flew away leaving the egg behind, so he took it to taker care of Peewee. |
| Forgottensin #1152012 4 months ago |
Somehow I don't think those phoenixes were coming back. |
| Impious #1152016 4 months ago |
Owlowicious is busy fighting aliens in high orbit. |
| Anonymous #1152022 4 months ago |
To be fair, the other eggs had hatched and this one was buried in the nest, so it may have been considered a dud. Pee Wee might not have hatched without extra care from Spike. Plus the parents flew off so finding them would be impossible. |
| Anonymous #1152025 4 months ago |
We will never see that little birdy again. |
| Impious #1152029 4 months ago |
And, in all seriousness little Peewee's parents weren't coming back for it. Spike basically save her/him. What gender is the little thing again? |
| EQUINE_excite #1152033 4 months ago |
1) They were running away from the dragons. Are you going to leave that egg there for them to break? No.
2) The pheonixes were already born, and the nest was completely destroyed. Those aren't stupid to stick around that place anymore. Now Spike has an egg with nowhere left to go. Congratulations Spike, you're the new mommy! Think before you throw your dumbass "plotholes" in our face. Your name is greatly fitting. |
| NightJack #1152035 4 months ago |
And for all we know, Spike's egg was lost somehow and he would of been alone if not found by a nice pony that took it too the magic school. |
| Impious #1152036 4 months ago |
Ninja'd. |
| Harlequin_Jester #1152039 4 months ago |
If you handle a baby bird the parents won't take it back, everyone knows that! |
| picard #1152040 4 months ago |
Nest was destroyed, Phoenixes flew away. Spike was partially responsible and decided to take care of the egg. I don't see any moral shortcomings. |
| Kanashi1kage #1152044 4 months ago |
Want an easy explanation Fuzzy and people who share his view point?
The family Phoenix's never returned to the area. And it would be stupid to leave an egg in the wilderness hoping it's family finds it before some predator. Leading to Spike and the egg. There. Problem solved. |
| Blaze-Bolt #1152045 4 months ago |
@Fuzzy
I wished they would've had a better story than trying to fit in, he should have had the opportunity to find his parents, that would've been interesting. |
| Anonymous #1152047 4 months ago |
Twilight hatches Spike, Spike hatches a Phoenix. When you touch a birds eggs, the mother and father will crush and destroy it. Now he'll have someone that will live for as long as him. |
| picard #1152052 4 months ago |
Maybe OP wasn't trying to point out Spike's moral shortcoming, but instead wanted to point out that history is repeating itself. |
| Littlecabbit #1152055 4 months ago |
and now he's got a cool pet phoenix, that thing'll be around for him in a thousand years when all his other Pony friends are dead. |
| NightJack #1152067 4 months ago |
@picard: It was Fuzzy that posted this, look at his comment, that not what he meant. |
| CottonTales #1152070 4 months ago |
@picard
nice suggestion but Fuzzy is OP and he pretty much stated his opinion |
| EQUINE_excite #1152072 4 months ago |
@Blaze-Bolt
For the scope of a 22 minute episode that's supposed to be self-contained, finding his parents might've been too much of a scope to fit in. I think you'd at least need two episodes for such an important event to play out well. |
| CottonTales #1152079 4 months ago |
FUCK YOU NIGHTJACK!
(you ninja'd me) |
| Vree #1152090 4 months ago |
Interestingly, once a young animal has come to contact with humans its parents will often not take it back and let it die instead.
Maybe that does not happen in happy cartoon world, but just throwing that out there. |
| Impious #1152095 4 months ago |
If Spike wanted to find his real parents, his best bet would be asking Celestia.
But ask anyone who wasn't raised by their biological parents. Their blood parents are a non issue, they'll definitely tell you that whoever raised them is their real mother and father. At least, that's what my two adopted friends have told me. |
| BattleGT #1152102 4 months ago |
Nest was destroyed,Phoenix Family Fled, Spike "adopted" Pee Wee in this case. |
| Rostam #1152122 4 months ago |
I think Owlowicious...(tara and -icious <3 hahaha) lives on top of the tree..or in her room... |
| Anonymous #1152125 4 months ago |
@EQUINE_excite not really, it could have been shortened to only giving the egg back, it would have required around 30 seconds at most |
| SomeoneBored #1152138 4 months ago |
birds wont take a stolen egg back
op: ![]() |
| Dumb_Rock #1152148 4 months ago |
The other dragons scared away his parents, so Spike decide to take care of him. Nothing wrong with that.
And if you think that Peewee will get an existential crisis, Spike will probably tell him how he learned that it doesn't matter what you are, but who. You know, the lesson of that same episode. |
| WhirlyWillow #1152179 4 months ago |
For the people saying that parent birds won't take back a touched egg, that's not actually true. If the egg had fallen from the nest or the parents had witnessed the egg being touched maybe. But birds have no sense of smell, therefore that wouldn't be able to tell if the egg had been touch and placed back in the nest (I got to work with a falconer/bird trainer for a while). Its mostly a wives tale to keep children from messing with nature.
That being said, I agree with what most people here are saying, the parents had fled and it was better for Spike to adopt the egg rather than leave it be found by predators. |
| EQUINE_excite #1152181 4 months ago |
@Anon
Excuse me, I thought he was talking about Spike finding HIS parents. Finding the egg's parents would still have taken plenty of time, unless you wanted to split the episode into two completely different stories. Then the focus of the episode is lost. @Dumb_Rock Funny how we get these lessons every week, and it's occasionally something the fandom could REALLY apply to themselves. |
| Glord #1152197 4 months ago |
I was going to state my opinion.
But everyone else already beat me to it. |
| Harlequin_Jester #1152199 4 months ago |
My comment was more of a joke than anything. |
| Anonymous #1152220 4 months ago |
To be honest. I think it is acceptable under these circumstances. The family fled away because of these Teenage-Dragonbullies and they would have smashed the egg for fun, if Spike hasn't saved it.
Second. I think it is pretty cool that Spike has now a pet too. All the others have one. So why not. I just hope they would show the pets more often. We haven't seen Tank or the others in a long time. |
| Anonymous #1152280 4 months ago |
So what? Celestia stole Spike when he was an egg |
| HeroInferno #1152924 4 months ago |
I like that the pets now have pets.
What do you mean Spikes not Twilight's pet? |
| DR_SHRUBBERY #1153197 4 months ago |
in Spike's defense, that bird is cute as fuck |
| Anonymous #1153270 4 months ago |
Hey Celestia had to get Philomena's somehow. |
| BackgroundPony17 #1153365 4 months ago |
I think this scene was meant to be a clue as to Spike's origins.
In my head-canon, I figure Spike's mom was a fierce dragoness who was threatening Equestria. It was such a problem that Celestia herself had to deal with it. However, after driving the dragoness away, Celestia discovered that she had been brooding an egg. Overcome with remorse, Celestia took the egg, hoping to hatch it somehow and raise the child as her own. This is why Twilight didn't know where Spike's egg came from, even though Celestia could've easily told her. Celestia was too ashamed to admit that she stole another mother's child. |
| Derpie_Pie #1153498 4 months ago |
Spike didn't steal the egg. It was left behind. In fact, he took the egg to protect from the mean dragons. |
| Clover_Patch #1154263 4 months ago |
Yeeeah, I was hoping they'd show him putting the egg back into the nest after the conflict was resolved and the parents being all "Cheep, cheep, thank you!" |
| Anonymous #1154735 4 months ago |
Spikes parents were killed by a flock of mean pheonixes, Philomena took pitty on the egg, and gave it to Celestia's school which used it to train twilight, and the cycle begins anew. |
| Thegug #1155530 4 months ago |
I dunno, I thought it was pretty clever considering what phoenixes tend to symbolise, i.e. cycle of rebirth |
| Deserter #1161594 3 months ago |
Who gives a shit? Spike now has a Phoenix as a pet, even Rainbow Dash can't reach that level of awesome |
| arkher #1162195 3 months ago |
@anon1152047:
BIRDS DON'T DO THAT! |
| MuffinTop #1176938 3 months ago |
@SomeoneBored I'm not sure if that's true or if you're basing it off of that entire "birds will abandoned their chicks if humans touch them" thing, but if you are, that is a complete and total myth. |
