I love how some RariSpike shippers are holding up this episode as an example of their budding relationship when it's painfully obvious that she's treating him like a little kid. Worse, she's treating him like a baby. |

Oh, anti-RariSpike people don't need this episode as a ship sinker -- the first episode of season one would do. Because let's face it: he's a baby dragon, she's a pony. I'd say species is a lot bigger barrier to a successful romantic relationship that age or even sexual preference. Spike's crush is cute, but it's never going to work out. |

@Anon1151846 I agree with this and would like to think it's a valid way to put an end to the argument in a serious context (aside from the fact that it's a little girl's series about FRIENDSHIP, which people constantly want to interpret as something more between the characters) but unfortunately many of the RariSpike seem intent on making it "work" however illogical it might be. I don't have a problem with shipping in itself but too many people get almost militant about it and take it way too seriously... this is a cartoon about marshmallowy cartoon-colored ponies after all. |

#1151867 It's also the closest thing to an actual canon relationship (outside of the Cakes) than anyone else in the show, and I think it should stay like that. If Spike get's older (or has a growth spur), Rarity will be all over him. Hopefully. Maybe. Okay, whatever. |

Spike and Rarity in the episode reminded me of Numbah 3 and Numbah 4 from kids next door.
Rarity: He's so cute... Spike: Cute? I'm not cute. I'm a dragon! Its a pretty huge improvement considering she used to treat him like the garbage he took out for her in Party of One. Spikey-wikey is still better than rotten apple core dipped in dragon perspiration or something. |

>treats him like a pet Rarity doesn't treat kids that way like how she interacts with the CmC. Rarity doesn't treat her cat, Opal that way either. This is a new side of Rarity we've never seen before. She's actually expressing affection but, sadly for bother her and Spike, its at the worst possible time. Its also possible Spike and Rarity's interaction has been modified. He won't fawn over her anymore with ignored results. Instead, she'll fawn over him causing him uncomfortable/embarrassing results. Or it could be a mix of both but never gets timed right just for the gags. |
