ME3's endings were fine. People just can't stand fatalistic endings that's all. The journey is still incredible.

I_like_your_mane, its the fact that we got these non-deviating, fatalistic endings for a game that told us our choices would matter. You can't bill the whole damn thing as "player driven" the take away player choice in the 11th hour. Not to mention the massive plot holes and unanswered questions. Are all the different races stuck in the SOL system? Who built the catalyst? What will happen to the crew...and how did the get back on the ship? Will Galactic civilization survive without the Relay network? The alpha relay took out a sector when it blew, and we just blew them all, did we just wipe out half the system?

Anyway you slice it, these were poor endings

Mass Effect 3 ended with Discord showing up and trolling the fuck out of Shepard while disguised as a little kid.

Ooops, spoilers

Ending 3 is also the ending that makes the least sense for a Paragon Shepard to choose. Mordin pretty much tells you straight up in ME2 (if you talk to him enough) that getting technology before a civilization is prepared for it is incredibly bad, and that Ending 3 is essentially how the Reapers made the Collectors. Legion also pretty much tells you the same thing in ME2 making the final options a huge cockpunch for my Paragon Shep (You either do the exact thing you've been fighting against doing in either controlling the Reapers or merging with them, or you blow them up along with all the Geth buddies you made and EDI and anything else with synthetics in it including yourself, but not really since you apparently can survive the one option that's supposed to kill you). It was stupid as all hell from a decision standpoint, I don't know why on Earth there wasn't a 'DON'T USE' option where I could just take my chances with conventional means. At least it would've been more heroic then dooming the galaxy three times over.

Also for the Mass Effect 3 stuff: I've come to hear that there was a "real" ending that was leaked a few months back, and that because it was spoiled someone came in and rewrote the ending... someone from the Deus Ex Human Revolution team it seems.

[EDI]That was a joke.[/EDI]

@WesternBirds: the ending where Shepard survives is the one where you gain control over all synthetics/machines including the reapers just like the Illusive Man wanted, but the other two you do definitely die

on another note, loving this biotic Luna!

^No it is stated in game that taking control of the Reapers will cause Shepard to die. The most stupid part is that, if the colouring of the individual sections is anything to go by then taking control of the Reapers is the PARAGON ending.

^^ No, Shepard only lives if they choose to Destroy the Reapers (and all synthetics, including the geth and EDI) and have more than 5000 Effective Military Strength (4000 if you persuaded Illusive Man to commit suicide). Control and Synthesis *will* kill Shepard, as explicitly shown in their respective cutscenes.
