Because humans as a species are still just as stupid as we always have been.
We may have fancy clothes and bigger homes and more advanced weapons to kill each other with but as a whole we are still just as primitive as ever. There are really 2 choices left for humanity at this point, unite and become a type one civilization, or die within the next few hundred years. |

2) @Dumb Rock LUST (the physical desire or attraction to someone or something) is not in itself a bad thing. It's just that most of the time APATHY makes us not care about the things we lusted over after our desire has been fulfilled. ENVY leads us to HATRED when someone else has what we LUST over. STUPIDITY makes us not care about the consequences of of the actions we take to fulfill our LUST. And PRIDE cause to excuse the consequences of our actions when we are faced with them. @Coolgame Except APATHY. Without IDEA there would be no MORALITY, KINDNESS, or WISDOM leading us to becoming Apathetic to our surroundings. |

When Locust devour crops do they think about the effect it will have on other animals? When Spiders build there Webs do they care about the well being of the animals that will get caught in them? When predator forces another predator away from prey do they consider that without the prey the predator will starve? NO. And it is not because they they choose to be APATHETIC; it's because they are not Smart enough to have the IDEA to be EMPATHETIC. This can be confusing, but for humans to be APATHETIC is both an IDEA and not an IDEA. See nearly all human are given the ability to form IDEA'S that will allow them to feel EMPATHY. The only exception is humans who are sociopaths or have other other similar mental diseases. Because the average human can now feel EMPATHY; being APATHETIC becomes a choice, an IDEA one can have. However without the ability to have IDEAS humans lose the ability to EMPATHY and thus become naturally APATHETIC. |

@Saint_Braeburn: If I understood correctly: apathy is the state of being an actor of an idea without thinking outside of it. Empathy is the same except that there is opportunity to think outside of the idea. If I did not understand, you can always correct me.
When I say "idea", I speak primarily of fiction and picture. Fiction which is not physical reality and image that ideally represents. However, although this remains fictional, an idea CAN give that impression to be real if you give importance to it. More importance is great in the environment and the more it becomes reality, but not necessarily physical. Here's an example: there was an idea that was that humanity can fly. This idea was made long ago (I can not recalled the exact date). Obviously, this idea was not taken seriously until people create protoptypes and creates the event in which more and more people gave importance to this idea. That it ends with the plane, humanity can fly! Indeed, it is a physical object carrying people who fly, not people, but all have given the necessary importance to this idea becomes a reality among many others. Now, with the subject here: many give importance to the idea that humanity is evil, monstrous, etc. But, by giving importance to this idea, we see things so the idea is true. Indeed, with the events they are going now, I can not say that humanity is beautiful because of these events, unless I'm cynical. However, the possibility that humanity is really good is not impossible: If a show like My Little Pony created this event in which many have given importance to ideas like "love and tolerance", that means we can not agree with someone but it's not a reason to dislike that person, then why stop there? Why not just create events that bring such ideas? The main issue we must remember is: do you see humanity as bad or do you want humanity to be bad? PS: Let me be clear: no one could give a clear definition of what humanity is, but not fall into this stereotype of "humanity is bad, that's life", réfléchisez on the issue, do some research (not only geopolitical but also philosophical), even though I am not in agreement with Saint_Braeburn, I must admit Saint_Braeburn has a good starting point for a reflection on humanity. tl;dr: Think about the question and go beyond the "the humanity is bad, that's life" |
