I've seen plenty of other artists get fanart on their birthdays. JJ just happens to be one of the best and certainly the most prolific among the best, so he naturally gets more attention. |

Great irony is how the only people hoisting JJ on some unreachable pedestal is that one tsundere anon. Funnier still, he was crapping on the artist on Equestria Daily and he was quickly found out.
He jumped the shark many times by denouncing JJ on Christian morality grounds (and yet he does not show up on other rule 34...hmm..). JJ is one of the few people that have managed to do risque (porn) of the ponies humanized or otherwise without getting really crass about it.
When you factor in the quality of art, AND the regular content and updates, AND having great designs for both humanoid AND pony versions, AND having some pretty decent comedy mixed in, AND doing both porn and normal artwork, AND that the porn he does is generally pretty tame overall and not something highly controversial, he comes out pretty much all round top pony artist. He's like Toad on Super Mario Bros 2 for NES. He may not be the absolute best in any specific point that you might rate him on, but he's near top in just about EVERYTHING. But yeah, the other thing is that people's memories are short. Brony artists have been getting Bday fanart before, if it seems like it hasn't been as massive as now, then it's most likely due to the community only now picking up enough steam, and artists establishing themselves in the pony artwork, to really draw in fanartist of their own work. Remember, MLP:FiM is only about a year and a half old now. |

People enjoy fun R34. If that us not your thing, that is fine. But the same criticism ignores how most if his art is actually pony art. The huge 76+ images JJ uploaded last month was like 95% SFW pony art. He takes requests and a ton of crossovers exists because if it. Not to forget the rule 34 on top.
Also, the name recognition us only because JJ does so much art + his stuff us entertaining for many. It is not some active putdown if other great artists. Funny thing is, JJ actually contributed a lot to featuring other artists. There is no division between people who like JJ's artwork to the rest |

Is it a bad thing if I actually really do like an artist I like? It is not about putting anybody down. Also, why not be more positive about praising many other artists than try to knock a popular one down? Plus, most brony artists are active in tumblr and deviantart. Not to forget this is not some mainstream website. It is still smaller in scope ththan Gelbooru. No matter how popular Joseco is,
it is still a small niche overall. I just don't see how anybody's popularity is going "unchecked" Excuse me it I enjoy what I like. |

If by chance the TC is not the longtime JJ hater, the matter is simple:we just show more support for other artists. But stuff like that can't be forced. It can be tried though. Much like how Megasweet and SpeccSY has their share of little drama.
Also, I do think normal pony art is largely the most popular unless an art us particularly erotic or funny. I can agree JJ may stand out, but there is no conspiracy about it. It helps that the artist has a lot of artist contacts. Like the 1 year fandom anniversary where dozens if pony artists worked together. And there was the invasion of fluffy pone a few days ago. |

Personally I despise his Molestia Tumbler. But I see no reason why people can't celebrate his Birthday or give him praise. After all he has put in countless hours of work into what he draws and he usually has a very retains a friendly attitude. And remember anytime anyone has ever voiced hatred against Rule 34 Pony Art; they were also, admittedly indirectly voicing dislike against his work. Btw I've met several bronies who have shown dislike of his artwork. And if you are talking about the lack of hate his artwork gets on Ponibooru it's likely because those who don't like it have long since filtered out; allowing them to not see it. |

It's because people heard the same complaint and it just sounds like a typical 'let's go wild over JJ for the trillionth time'. I don't even care if it's that hilarious JJ hating/tsundere anon or just another honest opinion at this point. It is just aggravating that it's a topic all the time. The truth is, JJ is popular with the fanbase because he is in CONSTANT contact with the fans and like 99% of his art now is requested stuff. And while people moan and complain about the molestia stuff (I think it's entertaining and a good continuation of Molestia, separate from being Celestia) or his rule 34 stuff, but then people just magically gloss over how he has a ton of pony art content otherwise. Mostly they are crossover too, so they have a nerg cred kitsch. I'm not even saying JJ's art is perfect, because he is an AMAZING colorist but he doesn't have the time to color most of his stuff as they're largely sketches. But at the same time, it's understandable. he was a web comicker and that's his roots. Doing sketches is just his thing. And others said it before, but JJ's art has vastly improved and varied since years ago when he was a comic artist only. The fandom has benefited JJ's artistic endeavor and the fandom proper. That's why so many people give props to him, especially other artists who have put out their own niche in this fandom in regard to humanization, furries, rule 34, etc. Other than furries, JJ has done it all. That's all I can really say. Plus, most fans aren't saying JJ's the only stuff out there, and that we should be condemning other artists. I personally make a point to support as much artists for bronydom as possible. I implore more people to give props when possible. I don't think singling out any artist is really worth it and it's just a pile of negativity really. Other booru imageboards would ban these discussions off the bat. |
