Well, she was also the writer of Mare Do Well and seems to paint the characters with the broadest of brushes possible. Fluttershy suddenly becomes not only assertive but downright cruel in a matter of an afternoon? I don't buy it. The whole juxtaposition of her personality rotates 180 degrees from a seminar? I don't buy it.
It's comical and it's an ok episode in it's own right I suppose but it's not consistent with the characters we've grown to love. I'm afraid I don't have time to get into how badly Mare Do Well made RD and the rest of the Mane 6 look. |

First, the screen fades after Fluttershy smiles. There is no proof it's only an afternoon. Second, the episode downright blamed Iron Will for her change in personality, showing that Fluttershy was acting like him. What if Iron Will has just so much Charisma that he managed such a feat? It's a magical world, it's possible.
Fluttershy normal at the start = Check Fluttershy normal at the end = Check There is no inconsistency. Unless you think the whole Iron Will course was just an apresentation. If that is, then shouldn't he charge all the ponies who watched the show? Now extend Mare Do Well. What is your beefy with it? |

Ok, so since it fades it's an indeterminate amount of time and doesn't need to explain itself and Fluttershy is easily malleable. I'll work that in then:
"Prof explains to Fluttershy the joy and advantage brought by R34. She smiles and the scene fades out. Now she says what she has just said after an indeterminate amount of time in which it is assumed she has been given reasonable reason and character development to come to such a conclusion." Mystery solved. |

This doesn't work this way, I am sorry. Fluttershy was seeking to be more assertive, that is why Iron Will could manage to change her position. Fluttershy never showed any kind of sexual interest, in fact just touching her makes her hide, so there is no way you would managed to change her position... because she never showed she was open for this kind of change. I think the problem is that you are thinking shy = submissive. Assertive is the opposite of submissive. Bold is the opposite of shy. A person can be shy and assertive. A person can be outspoken and submissive. Fluttershy main trait is being shy, not submissive. See? |
