Studio B has done good work on making things I thought would be terrible into awesome. Like I at first HATED the thought of the Cutie Mark Crusaders and thought New Luna would be the sad little princess everyone made her into fanon. I even HATED Pinkie during the series start. And I was proven wrong. And I'm willing to see where they are going with Shining Armor and Cadence. |

I consider the train, the introduction of Cadence, and pretty much all the other new plotpoints added in season 2 to be IMPROVEMENTS.
Omnipotent god-tier alicorns made Celestia and Luna distant, unrelatable and (thanks to endless piles of angst-fanon) annoying. Now that it's made canon that they DIDN'T rule equestria since forever, and that in fact they weren't even always in charge of the sun and moon, they're just a wee bit more mortal and therefore just a wee bit more likeable. The train? gods, the TRAIN. Biggest mistake Faust made. I know she didn't want any modern tech in the show, but really-- she made a show for MODERN KIDS, and sticking strictly to no-tech made it harder to relate and harder to write. Simple acts like flicking on a lightswitch became schizo-tech. And having horses pulling the train, engine and all, just made everyone's brain hurt. (seriously, when eight year olds are asking "but why are they pulling the engine?" it's time to question your approach.) Adding NEW alicorns just satisfies me on a personal level, because I hate the Fan Nazis. After all these MONTHS of people throwing screaming tantrums anytime someone drew an alicorn character, I heard about Cadence and giggled my fricking behind off visualizing the heads of the neckbeards popping like kernels in a frying pan. |

@Psychopomf: What, no! I don't want a Prince in distress, it's just a role-reversal of the typical princess rescue! Frankly, I want my couples to share an equal amount of ass-kicking.
As for the post, I can't wait to see the finale. Characters have constantly been introduced this season, and they have been characterized well. Those trying to speak doom and gloom about these two new ponies need to knock sense back into their noggins; you don't have any idea what it's going to be like yet. You'd think you would have known this when you decided to follow a show about ponies in the first place. |

cadence being an alicorn bother me if its not explained (which i doubt it will). i think she will be an interesting charictor, but i also feel that the alicorn niss was just tacked on for marketing at doesnt repreasnt her as a chrictor. in the long run, this wont change anything about the episode itself, it just irks me. |

I see some people have been trying to debunk the new blind bags saying they are fake. Especially when the new blind bags actually used fanon names, but I'll wait a bit on that. "Lyra" has a brushable as well and if they used "Lyra Heartstrings" as the TM name, it'd be on the brushable toy as well. |

Only episode that disappointed was "The Mysterious Mare Do Well". Horrible moral lesson. Apparently it's okay to humiliate your friends behind their backs. Don't get me started... Ugh. everything that could be wrong with that episode WAS wrong with that episode. Other than that, Studio B shits gold and diamonds. I have faith that Cadence will be lulzy and amazing. Shining Armor seems kinda like filler though. We shall see. |

Oh please. RD was doing the humiliating of her own accord. The MMDW haters really over-exaggerate its "bad moral." With the latest revelation about Shining Armor, the staff is on the right track by at least making the finale RELEVANT to the characters, so I'm glad for that. That'd be true if they had at least talked to Dash first. But they never once mentioned to her that her behavior was getting out of hand. Aren't you supposed to trust your friends? As the element of loyalty, if Dash knew she really was getting to them, she'd probably tone down the ham. And if she said "hahaha fuck that!" then they'd be justified.
As it is, they immediately went behind her back so that they could publicly embarrass her over and over again. Bygones are bygones, and she apparently wasn't too upset about it, so whatever. But it's a horrible moral lesson because of the utter lack of faith they had in her. |

I say that Cadence, along with the semi-canon Leon, are "miracle children", being born alicorns long after Celestia and Luna outlived all the other alicorns because of an outside power giving them immortality. "But how would Cadence and Leon be born alicorns then," you may ask. Well, the answer lies in genetics, which under reasonable circumstances, would apply even in a cartoon world unless stated otherwise. |

@StarrySkies- In Sonic Rainboom, RD said that she DID do it once...and that she was "Just a Filly." So The Cutie Mark Chronicles Sonic Rainboom still makes sense in that respect...though there's a few minor problems with it as well. (If you can even call 'em that) |

Wasn't there another type of rare ponies in one of the G1 movies? I think they were called Flutterponies. They were like pegasus but will fairy wings. They lived at the other end of a dangerous forest that almost mimics the Everfree. Their queen--I can't remember her name--gaurded a gem called the Sun Stone which sustained their land.
Now, who's to say that Celestia, Luna, and Cadence didn't come from a similar place with a higher ruler. As mentioned several times before, we have bumpkis on their origins and the first Elements of Harmony. It might be revealed during the wedding or somewhere in Season Three. However, for now, lets go with the flow and enjoy the show. |

My headcanon: Cadence was a royal unicorn who grew up envying Celestia, until one day she saw she should look up to them, and used a spell to give herself wings, becoming a winged unicorn but not a full alicorn. |
