Creepy psycho? She's just insane with loneliness. The poor bitch probably hasn't had a real friend in her entire life. And if she has, they probably threw her under the bus, so to speak.
I think it's telling that she idolizes and craves the friendship of a pony that (inadvertently) humiliated her more than she's ever been in her entire life. If Twilight is the closest thing to a friend she has, imagine how she's treated by everypony else she knows. She usually has it coming, but not even Trixie deserves to go through life universally hated by everything that moves. |

Really though, this is one of the few times I've had to omit something from my headcanon for being TOO SAD. Plus, I don't think Trixie is THAT much of an emotional wreck. A little bit, sure, but not to the point where she cries herself to sleep hugging a Twilight plushie. |

She only really has to apologize to Twilight, and by apologize I mean a really brief muttering of the word "sorry". Applejack, Rarity and Rainbow Dash brought it on themselves by heckling her, so the only person Trixie was actually rude to was Twilight when she tried to force her up on stage. |

What the writers intended and what actually comes out on screen can be 2 totally different things, and that's the case here. If an antagonist comes across as sympathetic to most of the fans, you can't just tell everyone to stop thinking for themselves. Let me try to put it another way - if I were to write a book and have the main character stamp on a kittens head, rape someone, set fire to a hospital and then punch a random bystander in the throat all in the first 2 pages, it doesn't matter whether I intended the character to be a good guy or not - the readers are going to go 100% against him. That's the deal with Trixie, but in reverse - the writers EXPECTED everyone to hate her, but when you look at the actual episode she didn't do anything wrong. In fact, AJ, Rarity and RD seem more antagonistic than her in that they insult her before she even has a chance to speak more than 2 lines and then heckle her show. Besides, Hasbro has embraced the fandom's love for Trixie. There's 2 toys of her on the way to stores. Same for Studio B - a number of the staff have identified her as a cool character who was fun to write for. |

There never was any explanation of why Trixie ran away at the end of that episode, unless she was so vain she couldn't handle being in the same town with a really powerful magic user. The only wrong-doers were Snips and Snails, and that was out of sheer stupidity. They owe Trixie a new wagon. |
