spike will never get rarity, she will marry a rich stallion and spike shall see his friends and his love die even before he reaches adulthood |

^ That is cold, callous, cruel and very likely. |

science? |
| CronoM #1128059 4 months ago |
Maybe not science, but do not underestimate the power of cartoon dues ex machina, especially to justify a pairing, let alone a canon one.
MLP has already thrown the most common tropes out of the window by having Rarity acknowledge it to his face. So yes. Spike will get Rarity. To the creators, the only question is the when and how. It will likely happen in the epilogue, unless MLP wants to follow the uncommon trope of "Completely Jumping Over the Shark" |

@ChronoM
Spikes crush on rarity has always been treated as a joke, I sincerely doubt that the writers are going to do anything with it. What kind of message does that send to kids anyway, that your childhood crush on an older woman will come true? |
| Anonymous #1128315 4 months ago |
^Seriously. Or that pedophilia is acceptable? Get over yourself, Sparity fans, mutual romantic feelings between the two are hardly canon. |
| Anonymous #1128349 4 months ago |
@1128290
@1128315 EXACTLY. Spike, a little kid living amongst creatures that he will outlive by many eons has a fat crush on one of his sister's/surrogate mother's/boss's best friends. Said friend knows about it, thinks it's cute and stops him when he's trying to confess in order to spare his feelings so that she will not have to turn him down later, and they can thus both go on under the pretext that maybe she *doesn't* know, so he can keep dreaming. All of you that read anymore into it seriously need to take off the shipping goggles for once. |

^this show already promotes child slavery. is the relationship between Rarity and Spike really a stretch? |

@360 No less of a stretch than Rarijack, Rarishy, Spilight, etc. etc. All ships between main characters are essentially on equal ground in canon. |
| Anonymous #1128471 4 months ago |
@412
While its true none of those ships have a remote chance of being canon, spike and rarity is especially ridiculous because it promotes an immoral message. Spikes "slavery" as you put it can be argued away as he's just helping her sister with her job. But Rarity reciprocating spikes romantic feelings is unarguably statutory. |
| Anonymous #1128506 4 months ago |
@471 I was #412 and I didn't say anything about Spike's working alongside Twilight being "child slavery", but I do agree with all your points regardless. |
| Anonymous #1128518 4 months ago |
SpikeXRarity is seriously retarded. Glad to see I'm not the only one who thinks so. |
| Takashi_0 #1128528 4 months ago |
^Actually, you are the only one who thinks so because you're a samefag. |
| CronoM #1128530 4 months ago |
^ Except for the matter of the one question.
1. Does it actually exist within the show? If no, then it has lower ground. If yes, then it has higher ground. Listen, I don't think you understand what I'm trying to convey. I do NOT support SpikexRarity in the long run. Its odd...but the creators have decided to keep going for it. We were all surprised by the seriousness it took with the final scene in Secret of my Excess. It didn't treat it like a lame shipping joke like MacxCheerilee, and it didn't treat it like 'aw the baby has a crush, he'll get over it'. Instead, they pushed it a tiny bit foreword into the romance plot, not backwards. To further raise our eyebrows, they introduced the idea of speed aging for dragons, just to further fuck with us. Say its as noncanon as all the crack ships as much as you want. As much as I dislike it, it doesn't make your statement any less false, cause in the end, it truly exists. EPISODES DON'T REVOLVE AROUND SOMETHING THAT DOESN'T EXIST! I don't why their supporting something so very close to pedo, but this show has been doing some eyebrow raising stuff from the get-go. If your going to act butthurt, at least have the sensibility to acknowledge that its an existing thing. We just don't know what to do with the information were given, and that's a fact. |

too much blah,blah,blah over here |
| Anonymous #1128654 4 months ago |
Well I was #412 and #506, obviously, but I can't speak for every Anon here.
@CronyM I guess I just interpreted the whole thing differently than you did. I actually thought the episode was focused around dealing with Spike's issues of greed and entitlement rather than his feelings for Rarity, which were more like a means to justify an end in the plot (the fact that he had given the ruby to her earlier in the episode, which triggered a flashback of acting selflessly that then was able to "cure" him). I also agree that I thought Rarity quieting Spike when he was trying to confess was her way of letting him keep his hopes and dreams alive, so that she didn't have to disappoint him if he realized she knew. That's not to say that she doesn't genuinely care about his feelings of course, but I don't see any evidence to believe she returns them romantically. More like a big sister kind of thing. I actually don't have a problem with shipping either persay, including Sparity if that's what people are into even if I don't agree with it, but I do think it's wrong when people try to argue that it's canonized. @PonyRIG Actually I agree. |

can we just agree that the picture is cute. |

Too much ship tease to be non-existent. Its why its so prevalent among casual shippers is because the writers themselves push it too much. The very fact that all characters avoid any RECURRING implied romance with the exception of Spike and Rarity magnifies the effect. Spike winning Rarity is a side story like the CMC's earning cutie marks or RD joining the Wonderbolts. We'll probably never see these stories conclude in the show but since its a kid's show, you can expect characters to have happy endings. @CronoM I thought the same thing too. The magical dragon speed aging device does make the alleged large age difference between them appear moot. Its like the common gemstone fetish that both Spike and Rarity share. The writers didn't need to give those two that gemstone thing but they did it anyway as if they were planing to develop the ship from the very start of the series. |

While we know that Spike is younger then Rarity how much is really up in the air. Personally, I see the Spike to be about 15 and Rarity to be about 20.
Is that correct? Maybe, maybe not. I will however point out that for something that is a ridiculous non secret, nopony in the show actually seems to think there is anything wrong with Spike's feelings due to age difference. Maybe they think it is just a harmless crush, but if that is the case Rarity is being kind of bitch leading the boy on like that with kisses. |
