My guess is that the Tartarus is pretty much like Everfree Forest, but far more dangerous. Dangerous enough to need the Cerberus to stop its creatures from leaving. |
| Nebbie #1123137 4 months ago |
The hell about the dangerous spells and artifacts? We got the Canterlot archives actually shown. Your headcanon is barely different from real canon but it still is illogical. |
| ClownDicks #1123141 4 months ago |
^I meant Necronomicon-grade shit, stuff that not even Twilight is allowed access to. |
| TheLurker #1123144 4 months ago |
Bet you that's where they're hiding the humans. |
| Nebbie #1123161 4 months ago |
@ClownDicks
Time travel: -can be used to erase ponies from existence. -stored behind one lokk in the archives. -Friends of the princess given immediate access without even having to ask for it. Now it could be the time spell is stable time loops only, but that still means it could wreak serious havoc. I don't think there's any superevil spells that are kept behind one dog that a single pony can easily get out of the way. |

This is going to be an interesting source for future villains and misery :3 |
| NightJack #1123167 4 months ago |
^^ But Twi said it was for dangerous creatures, where did you get the other stuff from? |
| ClownDicks #1123186 4 months ago |
@NightJack
Nowhere. Just more interesting this way. |
| Nebbie #1123189 4 months ago |
Obviously, The Necronomicon is in Twilight's personal collection in case Pinkie Pie needs to be taken down. |
| Anonymous #1123194 4 months ago |
well, it looks like some humans did make it to Equestria after all.
Now we know where they are. |
| Glord #1123236 4 months ago |
So it's Equestria's version of the SCP Foundation? |
| Anonymous #1123238 4 months ago |
Tartarus is Azkaban? |
| Vree #1123288 4 months ago |
^My comment |
| ClownDicks #1123324 4 months ago |
^Exactly. Tartarus is Azkaban. AND that warehouse where the gub'ment stashed the Ark of the Covenant. |
| Glord #1123340 4 months ago |
And on that note, did you know that Dr. Bright has the 7th Element of Harmony? |
| Robomorons #1123388 4 months ago |
....and it has the worst gatekeeper in Equestria. |
| Yeoseo #1123480 4 months ago |
Keeping rogue magic users and dangerous forbidden spells together in one place doesn't seem like a smart thing. |
| CronoM #1123494 4 months ago |
^^ Willpower?
I thought Rainbow Dash's energy WAS the seventh element of Harmony, since that's what awakened the 6 cutie marks, and Dash's Rainboom energy is the phsyical energy of Harmony, as shown twice. |
| Bronyboy #1123571 4 months ago |
They got any Shushus in there? |
| YenaMuffin #1123878 4 months ago |
Also, dropping the soap there has lethal consequences. |
| Bronidas #1123995 4 months ago |
It's like I'm playing a roguelike! |
| phallen1 #1124143 4 months ago |
Tartarus is where Celestia keeps all the pretender gods who were defeated during the Ascension Wars. |
| Anonymous #1124174 4 months ago |
Could it be that the Negative 6 and the Elements of Disharmony be sealed in there? |
| Anonymous #1124193 4 months ago |
Maybe that's where haters, complainers, and trolls were kept until they escaped. |
| Latios381 #1124428 4 months ago |
Isn't Tartarus under the underworld?
Cerberus is the guardianof the underworld. And Cerberus is supposed to be small. |
| mathprofbrony #1124438 4 months ago |
Nobody but Hercules ever fought his way past Cerberus. Cerberus is big and nasty.
And to the OP, Twi said what Tartarus was. It's a prison. If there's anything else there, she didn't mention it. |
| Anonymous #1124509 4 months ago |
It's like San Quentin for Ponies |
| Raindrops #1124975 4 months ago |
Tartarus=Hell |
| macavity_omega #1125297 4 months ago |
Is it odd that I heard it said as Tartauros in the episode? |
| RealityCheck #1125951 4 months ago |
Tartarus: canonically a place for holding monsters. Nothing more, nothing less.
Get this--- monsters WORSE than the ones let to run loose around the Everfree. And that's not bad ENOUGH for some of you? |
| Xuncu #1127123 4 months ago |
Well, in the origional greek myth:
Chaos is the origional Void (that's what the word actually used to mean: lack of any order; ie, lack of anything at all), and 'she' begat Gaia (Earth), Eros (love), Tartarus ("ultimate formless gloom"), and Nyx (the night. Also: heh). Gaia, since there was now land, that also meant there was now (Sky): Uranus is technically her son, but they fell in love, and from them the Titans were born. After the Titans, there were the Cyclopses (specifically, the ones who'd later work with Hephaestus and make Zeus' bolts), and then the Hecatonchires (+100 armed, +50 headed, violently hellbent Ents, basically). Uranus hated that they were ugly, and sent them to Tartatus; like Hades, it is both the deity and the location. Gaia still loved all her children, so she asked the Titan Chronos to rescue them; he castrated Uranus with a flint sickle, but did not free his brother from Tartarus. To make a long story short, the difference: 1) In greek mythology, heaven/Olympus is exculsively for the gods, and rarely human next-of-kin. 2) Hades is "the afterlife" in general, for both good and bad; heroes go to the Elysian Fields, for example (later versions of their Mythology say this anyways) 3) Tartarus is separate, and is deeper and darker than any of Hades ie; there's ways out of Hades that even mortals can pull off, Tartarus is when the Gods themselves want to make sure that shit stays under wraps. And Twilight jogged that out overnight. But yeah, "Kerrbiruus" (yeah, I had latin classes .... once) guards Hades. My guess; either because of Disney's Hercules, or they wanted a more obscure way of saying "Hell" on a show for 9-year-old girls, they said Tartarus. |

^Tartaros/Tartara was also rarely a place reserved for the most wicked people in afterlife and after the New Testament was considered synonymous to christian Hell (with Hades being largely synonymous to both Hell and Limbo). |

Sooo... Its the SCP Foundation then? |
