The post doesn't actually claim a threat of homelessness, just that they may have to move to avoid it...and also doesn't explain why they were "kicked out".
The internet is full of people who would like strangers to give them money for nothing so I'm pretty skeptical of this whole situation. Also, I looked at the artist's work...they really can't promise things like THAT in return for donations? They're usually little more than sketches. |

Because they refuse to get a job. They think they can live off commissions and refuse to find an actual stable job. Even in this economy it's not that difficult to find a job in retail or something, like stacking shelves and things like that. Seriously live with your parents, and get a fucking job. |

Yeah, my mom lives with me and it's no big deal. Just do whatever you have to to get by.
Though if you're still taking donations by the 15 I can probably send 50 bucks or so though I doubt that would really help. I'll have to see my current situation. |

I don't know. I don't think there's anything wrong with an artist gathering patrons. That's pretty much how it's always functioned. I see no shame in it but then again that's just my opinion man. |

There's nothing wrong with commissions in itself. However thinking that that's a replacement for an actual job is ridiculous. Especially if your financial situation is so fragile that you're on the brink of being evicted. |

It's harder for artistic types to find work, especially on the east or west coasts. You have to really purge that stuff from your resume for anyone to take you seriously. And it IS hard to find a job, even stacking shelves. And that sort of job doesn't help an artist succeed in life in any way; quite the opposite.

I'm an artist and have essentially been unable to find a job since graduating college eight years ago. I've had jobs which have come and gone, some for about a year. But it really is terrible out there jobwise, and artistic types get hit hard. |
