These instructions aren't bad however I feel your putting to much effort into shading with very little quality. Instead, perhaps you can consider:
1) Copying the entire characters, putting a black color overlay on them, and use masks and the brush tool (blurred) to create light. or 2) Take the time to add the shadows with the pen tool. Create and folder and set the opacity to how dark you want it. Then use the pen tool to carefully create the shadows on the character. This will give you clean cut cartoony shadows, great for some styles, horrible for others. Furthermore, instead of using black, you can invest in other colors. Take note of the scenery, if someone is in a blue room, there shadows will have a blue tint to them. |
