the 4th problem:

[2] Luna has an infinite supply of red, blue, orange, and green socks. She wants to arrange 2012 socks
in a line such that no red sock is adjacent to a blue sock and no orange sock is adjacent to a green
sock. How many ways can she do this?

I... I can't solve this. I can't solve the others either.

I have failed.

I could do all this but I am too lazy.

...aw screw it my brain needs some math.

Let me try this.

A=√5/5
B=√5
C=3√5/5
and the distance RD travels is 3√5/5 again, and every time again thereafter.

You can see on the blue line that if you create a number of circles with equal extra radius between them then any line that crosses these will also be split into equal sections. The only way the second number can be bigger is if it falls into the middle as shown in the picture. The first number (√5/5) is actually irrevelant since we are not told how far it is from the circles.

I'm giving it a try, maybe I'll post the solution later.

P.S.: the last one is maybe the easiest, it needs just a bit of attention and some combinatorial calculus.

What I want to know is

What the hell is Dashie doing on a plane? She can fly!

And then everyone failed the question because Dash was moving in a straight line perpendicular to the plane. She will never cross another circle.

Aww, shucks, OHMURR posted the solutions...
I came back here to explain something but I was lazy to do the calculations.

I can just say that Vree's solution is wrong because the distance between two circle crossings isn't constant, but its limit tends to 1 as RD goes to infinity.

@Nebbie: it's said that she flies in a straight path. And she crossed some circles. So she will cross infinite circles.

That doesn't explain G1, G2, and parts of G3.0 and G3.5

Rainbow Dash is not concerned with the distance itself, but how fast she can cover it. She pushes herself to the max, not only surpassing the limit needed for a Sonic Rainboom, but surpassing the speed of light of itself. This creates a quantum event, thus enabling Rainbow Dash to cross every circle in existence at the same time.

PROBLEM SOLVED.

(Yeah, I know I may have opened up a can of worms with this one, but I’m using the Equestrian Theory of Relativity where e=McFUCKIT it's Pinkie Pie. :P)

^^You still didn't solve the problem, even if you're assumptions are true. Your answer tells how long it takes her to travel, not how far she moves before crossing the next circle.

^^ Well, since she's exists everywhere, any movement would make her intersect the next circle. However, since she's also crossing all circles at the same time she can't really leave one circle to intersect the next. But she's also intersecting the circles already, so she doesn't need to move at all.

So if Rainbow Dash were to break the speed of light, the answer for how far she would have to travel from one circle to the next would be +/- infinity, a, (a = the distance between two circles) and 0. ALL AT THE SAME TIME.

(Yes, pulling crap outta the ass... but fuck it, it's fun. ;p)
