fallout:equestria
so freaking long that old fans continue to read it, but the new readers feel like their assholes twitch when they see the goddamn amount of chapters this shit has. |
| WhiteDeer #1114741 4 months ago |
Well the art sure looks great. I hope that I can say the same for the story! |
| Anonymous #1114747 4 months ago |
There is one good character in this piece of art and he ended up dying anyways.
Fallout Equestria had good characters, but none of them were the good guys. Sad really. Overrated. |
| Anonymous #1114754 4 months ago |
The story "is" good. I mean, it starts as fallout and then it develops by itself into a story completly independant from fallout. But it has SO many chapters, SO MANYchapters that new readers wont read it. |
| Impious #1114775 4 months ago |
Shit, I was a new reader when it had thirty five chapters and I jumped right into it. Pussies.
Now, Project Horizons IS ridiculous. It's learning heavily towards overrated territory, and it's not even half complete yet. Read that again. Not even half complete. And FO:E is an incredible story with incredible characters. And it is both depressing and horrifying, yet beautiful. There are some really beautiful sidestories too. But not Horizons. I'm sorry, but you're fucking up when you hit 35 chapters and you still can't figure out where you're taking the story. |
| Anonymous #1114783 4 months ago |
^Well, the author went up to eleven with the story and now cant manage it to a proper ending. |
| Anonymous #1114794 4 months ago |
^No.
Like, it's implied that there is some great mystery, and for awhile it makes you feel like it. But finally you take a step back and realize there's only like, a few distinct things going on and he's just filled everything with so much shit that it becomes so convoluted you lose focus. Project Horizons ends on chapter 16. You read past that, you're wasting your time. |

Red Eye dying is the greatest sin commited in writing history. Still pissed me off. |
| Anonymous #1114805 4 months ago |
So Past Sins (plus its oficial sequel) + Fallout Equestria = Most overrated shit ever, even more than final fantasy VI ? |
| Anonymous #1114807 4 months ago |
^sorry, final fantasy VII |
| Anonymous #1114813 4 months ago |
Fallout Equestria IS overrated. Still better than 90% of other fiction, but horribly overrated. It never really deviated from the original Fallout Equestria's story, and when it does, it goes to shit pretty fast.
The ending is enough to justify this. |

Seeing how long fallout equestria is and the reactions it gets i was kinda wondering how i am going to make my own story. You see, i have this wonderful, thick plot in my mind, so many fighting scenes (good, but short), a world that runs on "rule of cool" and "crazy awesome" but too much stuff to cover.
So which is the best formula?: LOTS of chapters - But short on words Not so many chapters - Mid longetivity. Just a few chapters (maybe 10) - AWFUL GODDAMN AMOUNT OF WORDS. |
| Impious #1114834 4 months ago |
Agreed, Horizons ends at chapter 16. Past that it's just a long humiliation/horror conga for Blackjack and friends, with an overload of angst and the odd horrifying scene, probably involving rape and dismemberment. It isn't going anywhere.
Fallout Equestria is a good story. Even I'll admit it's overrated, but it's a fic we should be proud of; Our humble little fandom gave birth to a work of fanfiction comparable to bestselling novels. It's long and wordy and complex, but you're a pussy if you let that get in the way of enjoying it. Isn't that why we read anyways? |
| Anonymous #1114839 4 months ago |
^Depends. Do you want your fic to be famous? Write 18k words a week and pump out a chapter.
Be sure to make your protagonist a lesbian mare (unicorn for maximum effect). Have them constantly talking about sex so your virgin readers (your majority) remains entertained. Have lots of blood and death and rape and violence. You don't even have to kill off any of your main characters. Have your main character kill a lot of people, talk about how she regrets it, then goes back to killing a lot of people. Instant tens of thousands of readers. |
| Anonymous #1114847 4 months ago |
^ Goddamn, you just resumed like 20 fanfictions i am tracking.
anyways, the story is filled with lots of crowing moments of awesome, heroic sacrifices and shit like that. Its like a mixture of epic literature, opera, rap and anime. |

Mid longevity. It takes an unnatural amount of skill to do long chapters and not bore the reader to death. Most everyone agrees that FOE is amazing, but they also all agree; Holy fuck, it's way too long. For a good example of a happy medium, read "Eternal" on FiMfiction. Fair warning, it's pretty rough content. But it has a very satisfying conclusion, so no worries. Each chapter is roughly 12,000 words and it's about 10-11 chapters iirc. Its pacing is just right and it ends before it gets completely tiresome. I finished it in two days. |
| Anonymous #1114866 4 months ago |
^I was hoping i could extend it to 30k words. Maybe i will leave it to 20k and just add a few more chapters, a tight package, but aceptable.
Thanks everyone. |

Guys, this poster isn't for Fallout: Equestria.
It doesn't have any of the characters in it. It doesn't have any of Horizons' characters in it. It's for a side story. Just thought I'd clear that up. |

^My life is complete |
| Impious #1114875 4 months ago |
Yeah, but that doesn't stop us from discussing either.
Which sidestory, by the way? Or is it new? Oooh, can't get enough fallout. |
| Impious #1114880 4 months ago |
Wait, don't answer that. READ THE FUCKING TITLE IMPIOUS
GOD |
| Anonymous #1114886 4 months ago |
Uh. Red Eye is right there and I'm pretty sure he was in the original FO:E
He was the only good character. If Littlepip would have just fucking killed herself he would have saved Equestria without relying on any stupid hopeless might-work-might-not super machine. |
| Impious #1114910 4 months ago |
..Except Red Eye's methods were high-octane nightmare fuel. It's called "the ends don't justify the means" for a reason. He was a sick fuck. He was an expy of Lord Ashur from The Pitt, minus any measure of compassion. Definitely a great character, sure, but you're deluding yourself if you think his way was the right way.
But, your mileage may vary. Some people just didn't like the story. And that's, like, your opinion man. Which is fine. |
| Impious #1114923 4 months ago |
Then again, Littlepip pretty muchs destroys Pegasus civilization to fix the weather. One of themes of the story is "Do the ends justify the means?" |
| Anonymous #1114927 4 months ago |
^Stop talking in tv tropish. It makes me want to go there and check everything you say again just for the hell of it. |

TVTROPES HUNGERS FOR YOUR WELL-EARNED HOURS |
| Anonymous #1118198 4 months ago |
@ StephenCawking: To be fair, LittlePip, Xenith and Red Eye are at the top. And judging by the state of the place, Blackjack is probably somewhere in the background. ;D |
