Using exclamation marks for supposed emphasis don't help them feel comfortable to discuss this at all.

I feel welcome, because this is the first anthro fandom in a long while (for me at least) where a humanized version of a character a majority of the time is colored as a black person

Sacastic much? I just posing a question.

@Psychopomf
Flamewar bait scenario is more like it. But fiasco seems shorter to me.

@Putuk
At least in ponnibooru. People talk about it every chance they get.

@Xero
Yes, I'm referring to humanized twi.

All the hate against black humanized Twi or any other non-white humanization of the mane six, obviously isn't stopping it from happening. So yeah, there's really no point in feeling upset or unwelcome in the fandom because of it.

It's just that Twi really don't fit as black.
It might be debatable if they didn't add zebras but since zebras are the established black population of equestria making twi black is kinda forced.

@Sonlir

What is it about Twilight's personality that can't be found from a black person?

It's not like twilight SHOULD BE CANON considered black. But what makes a Black twilight sparkle impossible?

In response to bigoted jerkholes who say that Twilight can't be black there seems to be extreme effort to portray Twilight Sparkle, in particular, as being black. I have even seen people respond to white Twi's with, "Why isn't she black". This bugs me, especially because saying Twilight is the "black one" seems to preclude any of the other ponies from being people of color.

Man, black Rarity is so much better then black Twilight. I know that there are those quick to claim that portraying Twilight as being black is interesting because it breaks stereotypes, but really? Is the cute black nerdy girl really a character type that you don't see that often? You know what I don't see that often? Classy and elegant black fashionista characters, who are also nice and generous.

Guys. It's an artist's interpretation. It's nothing more. Just because some dude draws her as black or white, doesn't mean Twilight is black or white, it just means the artist envisions her as so...or something

So yeah. Continue fighting now

Twilight is not white. Twilight is not black. Twilight is purple. Drawing a humanized Twi as a purple human would be, in some ways, closer to the original character.

I don't object to a black human Twilight, I object to a human Twilight period. I wanna magical talking pony, not some mere human. But then I'm a curmudgeonly misanthrope, and I realize not everyone feels the way I do.

Fortunately the latest medication is helping tamp down the urges to track and kill those who disagree with me. Although it hasn't helped the uncontrollable desire to post outrageous things to internet forums just to use big words and see if anyone actually reads to the end of my insane rantings.

Personally i like black twi because it matches all the shades of purple. When she is white it tends to be too bright for her color pallet. I would think thats why artists like to draw her as having darker skin.
That's why all the black rarity seems to be almost ironic to me since her body is so white changes the colors drastically.

This fandom flies off the handle for stupidest reasons.

Twilight lacks extreme personality traits, so humanizing as anything but white makes the humanization a little more interesting.

I don't feel unwelcome based upon that. I get annoyed with the emotional immaturity and in-fighting, but that's irrelevant to the issue.
    To be honest, OP, I see it as this:
  • Most users who say anything particularly overtly racist are trolls. A bunch of Anons and users just comment to stir up stuff. I know that, and I keep it in mind.
  • Many users with accounts don't like black Twilight, because it simply isn't to their preferences. I think it's due to ingrained concepts of beauty and what is the racial norm in the US among the decidedly Caucasian brony community, but many US bronies are subject to that bias, and it's nothing personal or premeditated. I understand that too. Most rational people who object to this interpretation of a humanized Twilight probably fall into this category.
  • A lot of people just don't care or see it for what it is: an interpretation. I don't think it's quite the same as a kitten, puppy, blob, or other interpretations of ponies, because race carries meaning that can imply stereotypes, but it is similar in that it's simply a different way of portraying a character that is essentially the same character in personality. I don't think anyone is attempting to degrade blacks in portraying Twilight as black or by preferring other races of humanizations.
  • And there are those who are strongly and genuinely opposed to the existence of a black Twilight Sparkle. They are few, not indicative of the brony fandom, and they usually have weak arguments (meaning that arguing with them would be like swatting a fly with a Buick...but the fly doesn't know it's dead yet.) With a likely similar distribution of these people, it'd be like feeling uncomfortable with living in the United States, because people with...closed...concepts of race exist in small numbers. I mean, I do in certain situations, especially in arenas where racial tensions are especially high, but that is a less of an issue in interacting with bronies than it is in my day-to-day life.

    If anything, then I feel more welcome in regards to being black than I do elsewhere, because perceived race is not part of how you interact with me as you might "IRL."

    I don't like throwing around the words "nigger" or "faggot" and I certainly don't like the concept of "Niggertron" (as epic of an OC as he is (>implying that OC's can be epic,)) but I'm a little PC. I recognize the Web isn't a place for politically correctness, so I don't bother.

    All in all, I get annoyed with the community for reasons outside of my race or perceived racism. I am annoyed with some racist terminology (regardless of the meaning or context,) but that is a product of the Internet and not of bronies.

    To sum, whatevs, dude. Twilight is Best Pony either way.

    ^ To sum up, racial discussions in Ponibooru are caused by:
    a) Trolls & anons (BIGGEST GROUP)
    b) Everyday custom of white skin as default or "normal" skin.
    c) People who dislike the interpretation for non-racial reasons (like aesthetics) but sadly fuel the fire or express their view incorrectly.
    d) F*cking racists. (Includes positive racism, like: "Ohmygosh all your character are white so you are racist cause Twi is smart so she should be asian and stuff")
    *)Chances of IQ dropping through the discussion raises when the following words are used: faggot, nigger, shitstorm, __fag, fuck, fucking and all variations.
    **Also, Twilight is not black, she is purple and is pony, same goes for the rest of the cast...except Zecora, she's a zebra.

    honestly i prefer black twi it just fits after having the smart girl is black stereotype for so long...or are those only the shows i watched that had that?

    no one really needs to argue on this stuff if a humanized twi is black is because the artist deemed it so.
