People don't explode from decompression.
When exposed to the vacuum of space, the water on the surface of your eyes and mouth would instantly evaporate, which would cause a lot of problems. The biggest problem would be that, as a consequence of no atmospheric pressure, gas diffusion in the alveoli would function in reverse, forcing air back into the lungs from blood cells. So if you held your breath, you'd rupture your lungs. If you didn't hold your breath, your lungs would collapse. Death would occur, but the concept of exploding from that is just silly. |
