Meh, I always saw these two as a Mother-Son relationship and nothing more. I guess maybe because of the interspecies couple but I do like RariSpike. |

I see them as having something between a boss/assistant and roommate relationship. Mostly because that's pretty much what they are. |

if you take out the mother-son/sister-brother style relationship implications, this would work quite well.
It seems the show itself has done that anyway (taking out the brother-sister element that is not shipping them) as Twilight has always called Spike an assistant or a friend, never a brother or even "like a brother" |

Its not that they refer to each other as brother/sister but more like how they treat each other on many episodes.
I'm a huge Spike/Rarity supporter but I am okay with this, though. Actually, I'm okay with any pony shipped with Spike cuz he's such a little hero. |
