Arne I don't think that post was needed seeing everyone here is rather chill about it. While I do see his point that people outside of the fanbase won't get the in jokes etc. I disagree that the scene could only be interpreted as what he stated.
And it's acutally quite refreshing to see someone who was against the Portrayal give their take without the air of the "tumblr social justice squad" whom's posts make me want to scream to the high heavens at times. Now I've gotten over the Derpy Drama but that's not to still I still haven't lost respect for some of those involved. |

If a real world person with something wrong with their eyes and a voice that is different then expected which means absofuckinglutely nothing smashed town hall I'd yell at them too, who gives a shit if they're disabled? Saying it's a problem to confront someone with any sort of disability- even high-functioning ones like derpy- over something they did wrong is completely asinine. Saying it's such a problem that a situation where that supposedly happens needs to be removed so children don't see it is even worse. Sorry kids! Your personality and disabilities are offensive, and people will not hesitate to try and erase your presence. |

Exactly. It's that kind of logic that makes people with Asperger's into complete douchebags, because once they're diagnosed nobody wants to be the jerk that made the person with the disability feel bad, when in reality that kind of attitude helps nobody.
Treating someone with a disability like a person is the best thing you can do for them, no matter what's wrong with them, be it ADHD like me, or blindness for that guy down the street, or that one clumsy girl with the crossed eyes on that one TV show. |

problem is the change didn't actually do anything to address your main concern. kindof a fail. RD still treats derpy the same way, doesn't matter what her voice sounds like or her eyes look like; she's acting clumsy and RD is treating her in both versions. |

I think the main concern was that her voice sounded (I'm going to put it VERY bluntly) like she had an actual mental condition/was deaf or something. It was a bit TOO close to the line of acceptability for some parents and people. |

Amy Keating Rogers wrote a much longer scene for Derpy. In that context, everything makes more sense. As much as I hate to admit it, when someone has no idea who Derpy is, the scene as it was really doesn't portray Derpy honestly. That said, I was really disappointed when they changed her scene. I also was one of 200 people who initially e-mailed Amy, Hasbro and The Hub in support of Derpy. |
