This development seriously disappoints me. I mean c'mon, we have seen Twilight's parents once in a non-speaking role and all of a sudden she has a brother that is getting hitched to royalty. They made a big deal about her getting to be Celestia's student when she was a filly and this apparently royalty material brother that has never been mentioned even once comes out of nowhere to steal the family spotlight. I mean it's like they thought that there was no other probable way for Twilight to be involved in this wedding without her being BLOOD RELATED to the groom. |

I don't like it when they fire the retcon cannon at the canon. :( They could have used a bit more imagination for Twilight's presence at the wedding. I loved the season 1&2 opening episodes because they were story driven. Even though this looks like it has the guise of being story driven it feels like they are half-arsing it. |

@MakarovPony: Retcon would suggest that it was already established that she never had a brother. To the best of my knowledge, it was never outright stated that Twilight was an only child. We never knew that Rarity and Sweetie Belle's parents were still around until they showed them, and it was never truly established that they were still around until the moment they appeared on the show.
I really don't think Studio B is going to let us down with this episode. There may be build up in the next coming episodes, and Twilight may have a much bigger role in the wedding than just 'sister of the groom.' |

Essentially I don't like the fact that they are just suddenly saying that Twilight is not an only child. Feels like a very forced plot device.
