This scene was pretty brutal. Fluttershy ripped into their pride and very identity and tore the fuck out of it. That wasn't easy to watch even the first time. |

The Pinkamena scene was more sadness and the paranoia that her friends didn't like her. This was just straight sadness. |

Lesson: "Why apologize, when you can criticize?"
Application: Fluttershy tears into her best friends, whom want her sincere self back - thinking they mean the one who they can "take advantage of" - by criticizing their special talents/cutie-mark meanings, their "OTP" (One True Passion) in life, calling Pinkie and Rarity "frivolous ponies" and their callings "pointless pursuits that nopony else gives a flying feather about". I could watch the scene again and again, and try to rationalize Fluttershy's anger all I want, ponder on what she said and begrudgingly agree to some extent on it, but every time I do I can only sum it up with "Damn Fluttershy, that's low." |
