I think "lesson zero" was a good place to start realizing that the animation on this show has exploded crazily in quality (which is impressive since it was really good to begin with), but I'm re-watching episodes and this scene in Ticket Master blew my mind. Look how lazy those background ponies are! We are lucky they've gotten so much better. |

I'm also noticing that in earlier episodes, pupils would get smaller instead of the pupil AND iris- which is why sometimes ponies looked way off model and their eyes just felt "wrong". In Ticket Master when Applejack pulls RD away, her pupils are really tiny. Then whey they arm wrestle, Applejack's get small. Both times their eyes look really weird because of it. Glad they improved on that, too. |

Yes, it's getting better. |

By this time they should had a nice library of background characters to use. |

Indeed, they have. |

There's also a lot of weird stuff with technology!
First non-opener episode (ticket master): A lamp is shown being powered by fireflies, and yet not 20 seconds later, Pinkie Pie is getting her picture taken in an electronic photobooth with a modern camera sign on it. In later episodes lamps just have lightbulbs in them, I'm pretty sure, but technology is still pretty sparse. It's a weird disparity. I guess they figured "If there's obviously some electronics we should just use lightbulbs" or something. |

they just use clones for scenes that require crowds. |

I'm most impressed with the unique designs that have popped up in Season 2, rather than the standard 4-ish designs (Mare, Filly, Colt, Big Mac) that were used. |

Large scenes still take a lot of work, though. They dont have a hundred models already made for "pony standing from directly behind". Those characters are ALWAYS seen all over in a scene like that. Crowd scenes aren't a big deal anyway.
It's the small crowds and the more sparse scenes that matter, and they're doing much, much better with them. There are surely enough background models now that if they redid the first picture I showed, not one repeat would be in that line, and not one single-pallette recolor, either. Also noticing voice acting changes: Twilight is Tara Strong, so she's got it down in the first episode, but Rarity now compared to Ticket Master rarity may as well be an entirely different voice actress! Her voice got much more "perfected" and a lot less "airy". This is now "fuzzy rewatches ticket master and posts impressions" thread |

You know what I'd totally love?
If in the last episode of the season/series, we got a scene like the one in the end of that last futurama movie, where everyone is on the crowd and there's abso-pony-lutely no cloning... everyone's their own recognizable self.
Like so. |

Check out this tiny crowd from Ticket Master:
They're using those same exact models in that same exact pose even up to today, because crowds arent a big deal and they've already got these made. :O Also here's an example of the weird eyes I was talking about: ![]() |

Rarity's Umbrella debuted in Ticket Master? |

Technically the vally girls are in the foreground |

I would guess they've been building up on models and model parts over the course of the show so they can make more
or something |

@fuzzy: what is weird about Rarity‛s eyes in that pic? |
| Fuzzy_Logic #1095419 4 months ago |
Enormous-ass irises |

More time for them to refine their random pony generator, I guess. |
