That's immediately what I thought... Although the STARE makes a cameo at the end, and Fluttershy said something about "using it on ponies would be mean". Maybe it mind-fucks sentient beings or something. It's all up to interpretation.

Head canon'd so I can say the Flutter's at the end is still as lovably adorable and sweet as she was in most of Dragonshy.
If not, time will tell.

Nope. Besides, who is to say that the time difference between episodes must be the same time difference in Equestria?

Even with the dragon and cockatrice, she's still shy and lets other boss her around.

Hell, she was dead set against going up the mountain, but the others really made her do it.

Just because sometimes she CAN pull out the stops when life or death is on the cards, doesn't mean that in normal situations she's assertive.

I don't think so.
2nd season takes place after discord. 1st season is before that. Report letters were always writen by Twilight before Lesson Zero, not Fluttershy

Fluttershy is not being assertive with the dragon or the cocatrice, she is being protective with her friends.

Actually it only takes place after discord in airing order.

Chronologically we can say the following takes place before eachother.

Pilot - Everything else
Ticket Master- Suited for Success - Best Night Ever
Dragonshy - Feeling Pinkie Keen.

that's it, the episodic nature REALLY shows that finding a consistent chronology is a crap shoot at best outside of a few references or episodes.

^ the fact that fluttershy is the one writing the letter is a plot point that does place this after Lesson Zero in the timeline. Before that development only Twilight Sparkle wrote letters.

Now, I suppose where you put Lesson Zero on your timeline could affect some other things...

I thought the same thing. Hopefully someone official explain this. Otherwise the premise of the Story doesn't make much sense.

Just because we didn't see anyone but Twilight write a letter in Season 1 doesn't mean that these season 2 episodes might not be happening concurrently. We might have just gotten an all-Twilight sample. You can talk about 'probably' and 'I don't think' and 'it doesn't seem like' all you want, but logically what we know is as follows:

1. The pilot pair.

2. Ticket Master->Suited for Success->Best Night Ever

3. Dragonshy -> Feeling Pinkie Keen

4. Lesson Zero -> Any Season 2 episode with a non-Twilight letter.

5. Secret of my Excess happens within the first year of coming to Ponyville.

6. Friend In Deed is either 1 month before Party of One or 11 months after it.

7. Reading Rainbow (fuck all y'all Imma call it what I want) -> Friend In Deed.

That's what I can think of off the top of my head. Personally, my theory is that the first two seasons comprise year 1 of Twilight's time in Ponyville (52 episodes for 52 weekly reports, see?), but that's just me and there is not enough information to make that conclusion logically and for certain.

1. The pilot pair are first, dammit.

"Putting your hoof down" predating "Stare Master" was something I thought of too, but I think Anon#1093282 is right. Fluttershy wrote the letter. You would have to set "Lesson Zero" in season 1, but the Mane6 writing the letters is a season 2 thing, so naaaah.

I'm of the opinion that Flutters is on par with AJ and Dash physically, but she's just too timid to show it. we all saw how fast she was in part 2 of the Discord ep, and in "Putting your hoof down" she bucked carts and tossed ponies like it was second nature. She's adorable, but somehow I get the feeling she'd fucking kill you if you crossed her wrong.

Twilight is the physically weakest one, she lost a fight with the CMC to get her smart pants doll back. Rarity is probably the 2nd physically weakest.

It's almost as if using more magic slows a pony's development of physical strength more.

^ Or if the same was true of being a unicorn.

If they weren't wedded to copy+paste character designs perhaps unicorns would be slighter and frailer than the other kinds of ponies. Think of Fleur de Lis to get an idea, though maybe a bit less glamorous.

Here's the real explanation: The writing's biggest problem is that each episode is painfully obviously written by a different writer than the last, each writer having different ideas and interpretations of the mane six.

Note that every "one of the mane six goes batshit insane" episode, for example, is written by the same person.

^ I hope everyone knows the real answer is usually "different writer lol" or "who gives a shit", but trying to rationalize past the obstacles is fun.
