Unless your art quality is both epic and original, don't expect much.
Ponibooru has a lot of discussion, and do not expect us to care about the bajillion drawings of ponies when there are funny jokes to read. |

Meanwhile, my missed called-shot comment aside, @624 is right. I spend hours on my images and they're some of the worst-quality images on this site, not to mention the fact I rarely make a pop-culture reference that anypony else appreciates. |

also, blakk and white sketches with a ton of lines are an instant sign of art I don't care about when I browse thumbnails. Out of context gore, unless really hot, is another sign I shouldn't even bother. |

Well, can't mention your opinion without getting someone annoyed/angry.
I know my art style and content are weird. And I am not a such great artist(I am just a hobbyist and I am not even 18 for god's sake). But this poorly-made rage comic doesn't speak for myself, it speaks for many other artists that have more skill/spent more time than me. You may not able to feel this but many do. |

Hey, I spend up to two days on my crappy comics. Hell, the shortest time it takes me to draw from scratch to finish is usually ~4 hours - and that was achieved by rushing like mad for the Mock War. Then there are the basic pictures I draw, which I spend around an afternoon on. I don't get a massive response, but I'm always happy to see that at least one other person has seen it. Plus, I've gained a couple of watchers on dA. I'm not expecting to become famous overnight or even at all, and neither should you. |

Also, after looking at your artwork, I feel that you should inject some colour. Take some of your sketches and colour them in, finalise them.
Also consider trying different "genres". There's more out there than gore, you know. Surely you can think of something to draw that you'll be proud of that doesn't involve grimdark tones |

With meta stuff, we can comment on the topic that it's meta about.
With captions, we can make follow-on captions, other funny remarks, or just point out spelling mistakes. With low jokes, we can strive to make even lower jokes. Maybe even puns. With art... Most of us here aren't artists. We can't give constructive criticism. We can't point out any but the most obvious of mistakes. We can like it, or not. But damn, there's THOUSANDS OF PONY PICTURES. We can't comment on every one. So if it gets few comments, pretend everyone is stunned speechless with awe. :-) |

Since the "Take more than 1 hour" comments are taken, I'll go with one somewhat comical: Draw some ponies that face to the right. Seriously. Like every one is going/facing left.
But yes. The ratio of comments on art vs 'junk' always seems to be backwards. Exceptions exist, of course. Bottom line: Give them something to talk about and they will. |
