They already did a revamp of Pound Puppies and judging from the silence on the internet, it's nothing to speak of.

So it's by no means sure that the new show will be as much fun as ponies.

Which talented cartoon writer will they hire to do the heavy lifting of redeveloping the series and then fire?

Fat fucking chance. They struck gold with mlp, and all they've done since then is try and wreck it. They'll never hit the motherload again.

Lauren Faust would have to be a part of it for it to be decent.

I think they're failing to realize the actual reason Mulp Phim has become so popular is because someone with a ton of ambition and skill who actually cared to make the cartoon something genuinely enjoyable and worthwhile rather than mindless half-hour-long product-pushing dribble was the driving force behind it's creation.
Unless they get someone as skilled as her on their production teams (And I sincerely hope you all know who I'm referring to) I don't think these new cartoons will be attracting much attention.

@Xevnst

Are you referring to....................Genndy Tartakovsy?

A lone time ago In a magical land
I the Evil Hasbro Executive unleashed an unspeakable show.
But a foolish Care Bear wielding complaints from viewers,
Stepped forward to oppose me.
Before the final petition was signed I tore open a portal of apathy and flung him into the future , where my poor writing and half baked ideas are law.
Now the fool seeks to return to the past, and undo this shitty Care Bear cartoon.

Actually, that is what happened to Tartakovsky; his best work to date got cancelled after one season because a toy deal fell through...because the toy company couldn't come up with decent toy designs because Tartakovsky made the show visually interesting instead of easy to make toys from.

He's since left the company and has already found work elsewhere.

I'll still give Care Bears a chance. The thing with MLPFIM is that it catered to a wider cartoon audience.

Stuff like Strawberry Shortcake and Pound Puppies are obviously directed at little kids only because there isn't much in the way of comedy that extends to older viewers as well.

If Care Bears somehow manages to do something good with it, I'll support it.

I just wish Hasbro stops meddling with FIM anymore though. Just give a studio that has done such a great job like Stubio B a benefit of the doubt. And if there's another Derpy (or she comes back as the newer version), let them run with the ball and let the studio work out the backstories instead of pulling the trigger.

I hope Care Bears doesn't get the same draconic treatment.

Won't happen. FiM is a one-hit wonder, so to speak. No other cartoon will succeed in a way how FiM did. And when Hasbro shelves G4, it's over. G4.5/G5/whatever won't work anymore.

>G4.5/G5/whatever won't work anymore.

I don't think I can really agree with that. If they're smart and gather the same kind of writing talent and comedy-centric cartoonists on board, it could work.

The thing with American/Canadian cartooning is that there's a bevy of content and some really good animators abound. But they never get a shot because so few studios and companies invest in a cartoon.

At this rate, they can hand pick any number of quality writers and directors for the next generation if they see what a success Gen 4 has been, despite the Derpy situation. Who knows? Maybe they can even learn something from the drama and try to give the studio the benefit of the doubt next time.

^Hm, wrong turn of phrase, I think. I'd use "Diamond in the Rough." Or "Perfect Storm of Awesome."

Best we can realistically hope for, in terms of changes, is that corporate producers remain aware of the idea that creator-driven shows have a better chance of succeeding than scripts written by comittee.

If not... well, as they say; genious is where you find it. Who knows what the next big thing might be?

Will FiM someday become overdone, like the Simpsons? Or will the adventures end after some epic battle, so changing to the status quo, that there'd be no turning back, and that'll be taken as the cue for the curtain call?

For now; we'll enjoy ponies, and this fandom that has brought us all together, and we'll treasure this... impossible miracle of human creativity and community, for the rest of our lives.

Well, the hope is that MLP FIM is a trend, not some miracle. Even if the cartooning world is still besieged by censorship (even in Japan, where anime is largely massively censored or sanitized before a DVD/Bluray release nowadays, manga content always shortchanged to be less edgy in anime versions) and FCC pretty much ravaging network TVs' influence on creator cartoons, FIM kind of is a shining beacon of a cartoon that is being run by the content itself.

Stuff like Simpsons kind of got way too bloated in itself in how the studio and Fox pretty much managed to make it bigger at any cost, even adding celebrities every episode and pretty much paying extreme premium salaries for voice acting.

I somehow don't think FIM is going to go that route with celebrities (even if they do, it probably would be something that works with the context of a story better than in Simpsons) and I doubt the voice actors would suddenly demand to be paid a million an episode to voice or something outrageous like that.

Even if it only affect MLP as a franchise, I hope future generations have a cascading effect of sticking to the good part of cartoon creation urged on by the creativity and the storytelling. Even if Generation 5, 6 and 7 are of somewhat lower quality than Gen 4 but are still very good otherwise, I'll remain a fan.

Only reason MLP Fim is so good is because we got an awesome person to completely renew it. Unless we do that again, there's no way we're gunning for carebears.

Lightening rarely strikes twice; they can't possibly delude themselves into thinking they can repeat a success based on so many specific factors interlocking so intricately that even many bronies don't understand why they love the show so much. The youthful themes are NOT what attracted the fanbase. Regardless of one freak exception, "childish" themes are the last thing that adult males look for in T.V. shows--not even FIM has changed that.

Even if both of these suck, I'm absolutely giving the Littlest Pet Shop show a chance. I adored LPS toys when I was little, and I wish I had liked the MLP toys, but I just didn't. Having that connection in a show would be awesome.

I myself at least don't see anyway to make chubby upright teddy bears look appealing towards the male or demographic, intentional or not, like the ponies no matter how much I try to look at them.

I rather have a cutie mark on a pony flank than on a belly of a fat teddy bear.

Ponies are more customizable to a fan's preference as opposed to those teddy bears which look almost all the same.

Don't get me wrong, bears are magnificent beasts. However, I usually prefer to envision them as more intimidating creatures. If they make the bears like this

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_zAdja8uW0o

I may be able to consider. But wait, its supposed to be a kids show right? That wouldn't be acceptable would it?

If anyone can make cartoon bears a balance of being cool and attractive for the "bronies" yet still within the realm of being appropriate for children, I DARE THEM!
