OP, you assclown. Ponies are herd animals. You don't keep one of a short-lived creature that you want to keep around. You keep a family of them. By the time one goes Granny Smith, you already have foals. And since these ponies are sapient, you can tell them to use birth control to keep them from going all cavy/rabbit/rat on you. |

I still think this is Celestia's point of view. She loves so, so hard, but her little ponies last about as long as match flames in her eyes.
But the whole My Little Dashie "I'm going to keep Rainbow Dash as a pet!" thing is horrible and anyone who condones it should feel horrible. The entire premise and execution of that story appalls me. |

^in the story, the guy keeps (or better said raises) her as his daughter, not as a "pet"... He only keeps her hiden from the public because it's better to not let the world know about her existence.
to say Rainbow Dash is equal to an animal is an insult. or treating her like a pet is disgusting thinking, I agree. but if the ponies are able to speak and understand our language then they are qual to humans... and should be treated as such... |

Because people can and do keep real ponies as pets. In fact, dwarf ponies make excellent seeing-eye animals for blind people. If REAL ponies are well-cared-for in the proper environment, they are fine as pets. |
