That guy is completely right. She's vindictive and selfish, too. How is she the element of loyalty is beyond me. You'd have to be a total prick not to help out your friends or do your job. |

I love Rainbow Dash because she is a prick. I love her "Fuck you, i'm napping" attitude. And nopony else would straight up back-hoof a dragon in the mouth. |

Well there is some truth in there. Just a little bit.
Rainbow Dash acteted a little bit like a douch and a a-hole. But she is still a interesting character. With some of the most bad ass and cooles moment sin the series. But her character isn't quit the best out of the mane 6. In terms of moral and ethic. But that makes her interesting. Not every character can be an angel like Fluttershy. All of the mane 6 have there flaws and strength. That's what is so great about the show. They aren't perfect, but all lovable. |

Labelling Rainbow Dash a flat character because of a dislike for her traits needs quite some oversight - because she has about as many, sometimes conflicting, traits and quirks as any of the Mane Six. The obvious are confidence that often tansgresses into the arrogant. She's bold, but tends to act too quickly. She's energetic and can put a lot of effort into perfecting something she enjoys (flying ghastly gorge dozens of times) and yet she can be incredibly lazy and tends to procrastinate whenever there's work to be done.
There are more subtle traits, however - and I think they've been there from the conception of the character. She seems to have a deep-seated fear of not getting recognized, perhaps even abandonment issues. That's why she cracks when faced with the possibility of failing in front of an audience at the best young flyers competition, and that's why she feels so threatened by Mare-Do-Well. Her relationship with Fluttershy is, in my opinion, also a very interesting case, because it's more than just the borderline abusive remarks that are apparent at first - Rainbow Dash is overly protective of Fluttershy, perhaps because of the stark contrast between these friends personalities. RD may even be aware that her insults do not hurt Fluttershy and actually none of the remarks she made were outright untrue. Fluttershy was afraid of her own shadow. And they are usually voiced whenever the group goes on an adventure that Fluttershy (unless pushing her berserk buttons) may be ill equipped to face. |
