I can't be the only guy here who thought of this..? |

In fact, you are not. |
| Fronzel #1079777 4 months ago |
They don't care about bronies, only toy-buying parents. |
| Drefsab #1079787 4 months ago |
In the end, the petition signatures of nearly 30,000 bronies are negligent against a very small number of pissed-off soccer moms and PC assholes.
Reality. |

You know what's annoying? The fact that Amy chose the 5%. She got 10 emails saying they we're offended by Derpy and that "Derp" is a slur, (which is bullshit). While she also got 200 emails saying that they enjoyed Derpy, some from people who have disabilities.
She didn't bother doing the research to find out that "Derp" isn't a slur, I know she said she did, but I can't fucking find it. She had to go with the fact that someone called her an ableist and the fact her son is handicapped hurt her, even though she didn't find Derpy offensive. Derpy was originally named Ditzy in the script, why couldn't they have gone with that, people would have been upset, but it would have been easier on them? And they honestly couldn't get a better voice actress? I'm not mad about the change, but I'm fucking furious they've done a shit job changing her. |

You are not alone, Anonymous 1079798. But really, would it have made a difference when most of the complainers are just trolls anyway? I think there would have been the exact same shitstorm if she had been called Ditzy.
Also, I remember a poll on ponychan very long ago, 5 times more bronies think of her as Derpy then Ditzy. In any case, sad to see her go out like this. |

Amy didn't make the decision. Those ten e-mails didn't factor into the decision. In fact, she said she chose to do nothing. This was Hasbro's doing. |

Wow... great job, minority, great job.
I can't even begin to express how angry I am. I can't even say the right words right now, but I just have this to say: Impious was DAMN right. |
| Shaky #1079845 4 months ago |
I don't get why Hasbro don't do research.
I'm not talking about the 'derp' slur or anything like that. Why doesn't Hasbro do research on their biggest audience? Bronies? Fuck, we have a lot more money to spend than children or their parents and would spend more for quality merch. I can't think of any other fandom's fan-made merch that sells for over $2000. Imagine if Hasbro made a decent looking Derpy plushie and named her that.... I think that thousands people would buy more than one, I'd buy at least 3 even if they were $100 each. Fuck Hasbro, I know we've joked about this before, but do you have some aversion to money? |
| Anoymous #1079859 4 months ago |
@Shaky: My belief is the decision they made is for the long run. While this group may be their biggest fan base, it's just for FiM. So I imagine they have to consider what will happen years from now when the show is canceled and the fan base dies or starts to die off? Chances are, they're going back to relying on parents and children for their merchandise sales. |

I'd also imagine the ratio of haters to lovers was about the same for the executives and everyone else that was in charge. |
| Anonymous #1079945 4 months ago |
Pull your head out of your asses. You are not their biggest audience. Little girls are. You're just the bitchiest group. |
| mindcannon #1079950 4 months ago |
@945
I don't know man, the MLP fandom is fucking huge. |
| Anonymous #1079962 4 months ago |
@950 The Older base we have now is only a little over a year. Do you know how long the toyline's been around? They are not suddenly going to shift their focus of a girl's toy to a bunch of jerks who will bitch at them over anything. They would still survive without us because we weren't even their intended audience. We have to get some perspective. |

Well played, Crowley, well played. |
| DoctorDreidal #1080010 4 months ago |
That feeling when you realize that Friendship is Magic will never be the show it could be as long as Hasbro's calling the shots. |
| Anonymous #1080058 4 months ago |
^Oh, you mean grimdark, OC-ridden, and chock full of ironic internet memes? Yeah, wonderful. |
| dethgrimm #1080087 4 months ago |
*sigh.* just let it be. |
| DoctorDreidal #1080089 4 months ago |
@058
I didn't mean that we should take over. It's just a little vexing that the show has such potential for challenging its intended audience but can't because of today's parents not wanting their kids' being told that life is often scary. |
| Anonymous #1080124 4 months ago |
Nothing pleases you people huh? Seriously? You would've had a shitstorm because her name was Ditzy? You people are fucking pathetic, we don't deserve one bit of respect from anyone because of shit like this. |
| Takino #1080157 4 months ago |
It's easy enough to see it as not being offensive when you know where the term "derpy" comes from and what it means.
But the internet isn't the real world, and most people probably have no idea what derpy means, and I can see how, to someone hearing it for the first time, it could sound like a mildly offensive term. And corporations will generally go out of their way to avoid even the appearance of doing something offensive. I don't like the change, but I can understand why they did it. Fact is, Derpy is a fan character, and no matter what Hasbro studios does, she'll always be ours and we'll always have her. |
| Anonymous #1080559 4 months ago |
@157
DJ Pon-3 is also a fan character (sorta), but she's getting a toy. They've used the fan name to advertise it. |

I'm not sure what your point is. |
