Three minutes is an awful lot to spend on a one-joke character. They had a plot to work on.
I'm not sure what you mean about fanservice. Did you need to repost the whole thing to make this point? |

WHY DO THEY CALL IT A HACKSAW WHEN IT DOESN'T HACK ANYTHING? |

So, if I'm reading what Amy is saying here right...
10 peoples hate and intolerance won? Super fanbuckingtastic. Just great. |

Sorry Derpy, 10 complainers dont like you, so we're just gonna have to mind rape in to the usual trite, uninteresting blonde stereotype with no depth or character.
Way to lead the way for understanding and tolerance. |

For Celestia's sake!
She's a minor character in a work of fiction who got a couple minutes of screen time that was altered because a vocal minority complained of some wholly unintentional unfortunate implications. You people are turning a clumsy little grey pegasus into some kind of anti-censorship martyr, when it is Not. That. Big. A Deal! |

This is the way I look at it, Mr. Anon. It's not the censorship that I'm angry about. It's that the Brony community basically gave Derpy life. Found her in an episode, deemed her a special background character, brought attention to it, and made it it's own thing. Studio B decided to do a few tips of the hat to it's fanbase by putting her in more and more places, over the season. When they finally acknowledge her as an actual character, people complained about it until they were forced to change it.
It's mostly a matter of principle, for me. I've always hated complaining about gifts, which Derpy was. I also greatly dislike giving people flak that they don't deserve. What people did was despicable and whined about it. Now, the majority has to get less of an experience because a few people didn't like it. Even if it's just on iTunes, the attempt was still made to "fix" it. Also, the Studio has to suffer for it, as well. Just because "UBUH SHE'S RETARDED." What these people have done was bullied this innocent pony into non-existence. What those few people don't seem to understand is is that she's not. She's a perfectly fine pony. Just clumsy and with eye problems. If being clumsy and having eye problems makes you retarded, well, I'm just King of the Bumbo's. I once tripped over a stencil on a flat, clean floor. I've also got astigmatism and my eyes never stop watering. The censorship only adds a little tiny bit to my problem with it. The part that really really pisses me off and puts the final straw that breaks my camels back is that the very same people who whined and moaned and complained about Derpy won, and then had the audacity to demand that I love and tolerate it. No, I won't, solely because it was your hate and intolerance for anything that's not "normal" that caused this whole mess. |

The Derpy name was an edit to the original, and the voice was deeper than she expected."
So the re-voicing, and the removal of the name Derpy (to an implied Ditzy Doo), *both* moved the character more toward Ms. Rogers' *original authorial intent* for the character *she wrote*. This situation ended positively. I hope to see more of Ditzy Doo in the future, showing us that clumsy doesn't necessarily mean always useless. |

@anon
It boggles the mind that idiots are still overlooking that her eyes were underped. |

Hiya, Nebbie. Anon 037 here, with a fresh new account to respond to you.
I didn't overlook it. Or if I did, then so did Amy Keating Rogers, because I was discussing the changes she discussed. I don't imagine you think she is an idiot. These were the changes she was pleased with, or at least neutral on, which is the point I was making. Finally, her eyes were not underped. They were made somewhat less derped. If you don't believe me, then go visit http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X2CRjPO73Dg and say hello to 1:22. In a sense, Ditzy had nothing taken away from her. She had subtlety added. It's the difference between a fool and a jester. Oh, and hello world to ponibooru. |
