Actually, I have had enough, it's the only thing he draws and it's mediocre and repetitive. Everyone praises JJ for his humanized Ponies so people who jerk off to that don't have to feel bad about actually jerking off to Ponies. He makes money off of 5 minute sketches and every picture is starting to look the same. That's my opinion and hell, I even lost a friend because I stated that opinion, now he won't even speak to me and even told other Bronies at my school saying that I'm a furfag and that I only jerk off to Ponies. Now the other Bronies won't even make eye contact to me, just because I said I hated JJ to someone who praises him. |

At the very least, I respect JJ for taking an obscure character from a half-decent fanfic (Molestia) and turning her into one of the most easily-recognized fan characters in the entire fandom.
And kudos to the guy for having an above average knowledge of anatomy and maintaining a consistent art style. And the guy draws fantastic gentle intimacy when he's in the mood. If you don't like his work then that's your business, but don't pretend that he isn't an accomplished artist that deserves every bit of the recognition he gets. |

I'm not a fan of this particular series either, but Blaze-Bolt runs around constantly to JJ's pictures and then he complains about them. If you don't like it use a filter, or simply don't click them. I am a fan of JJ and I think it's wrong to force his fandom to anyone. I mean I think this image is hilarious. I kind of think the sameface stuff is being played out because the guy has a distinct style and used it for everything. It is not do different to videogame fanart Penny Arcade does. It us more the uniform style of the artist than true sameface one may see in some dating sim game. Even at that, people can still enjoy it for various reason.

I was following him because I liked his drawings, not because no-one else was drawing anything good enough for me to fap to. Um. Do you guys even LOOK at the actual fanart proper that he releases? Probably anywhere from 60-70% of his stuff is SFW stuff. Pretty much most of it being commissions. Even his NSFW is largely commissioned stuff now.
The way he's made a comic out of Erotic Daring Do is a total fanservice effort. And I'm perfectly fine with it. He actually released quite a few PONY fanart and SFW fanart while he was doing that. Why is it that you guys (as in critics) have selective memory? It reminds me of the way politicians lie and ignore select truths to attack and slander. JJ is doing this fandom a really good service. It's not like you guys are forced to look at his NSFW stuff. Also, maybe try getting an art commission from him in his art Livestream. Look at other Pony art in this site. The ugly truth is, this fandom has a segment that craves to dramatize and find a scapegoat. The only reason some artists are being singled out is because they may cross different styles and force people to think one has to choose sides.
There are many artists who has found a niche and are sticking with it and no drama. Or in the case of Pinkie/Fluttershy tumblr, whining is start to take hold. You guys seriously needs to step back and realize y'all are drawing straws and all sorts of reason to create unnecessary drama. The great irony? This fanart was sent to JJ as a playful bab between artists. You guys would be a lot happier if you guys just relax and let artists do what they like. Like and follow if you want. I dunno, I'm with Blaze on this one. A true artist is good at many types of art and it always feels like JJ does one thing and that's it. NSFW or SFW whatever, it's mostly risque humanizations. Or risque ponies. Or just plain fanservice.
But even then, I don't specifically hate JJ or the things that he does. It's just that he's the one getting commissions for 5-minute sketches, and so many other great pony artists just go unnoticed because he's a celebrity now. It's essentially the same problem outside the fandom where people only pay attention to the top musicians while a lot of indie artists suffer. I think this parody was great because it drives the point home about having too much fanservice. |
