Snails did stupid things because of his character traits. Derpy's appearance was nothing but her failing in implausibly exaggerated ways out of sheer stupidity, which are still portrayed as her fault, while being "rightfully" chewed out for it.
Her name, eyes, and general personality (at its most basic) aren't problematic, but the scene itself was. It was too exaggerated and pushed the image of "horrendously incompetent non-person who only exists to create humor and/or frustration". |

Very rational argument that. The same thing could be said about Goofy, but to my knowledge he has not been banned or even mentioned as being a stereotype and yet everything he does is virtually identical to what Derpy does and yet nothing is ever said. |

My argument stems more from personal dislike of the "dumb for the sake of dumb" character archetype than anything else. I like Pinkie Pie, for example, because she managed to be quirky without being that. |
