Epic response. It's nice and polite.
On art related news, I think her drawings are cuter in sketches. |

I don't know why but Twilight reminds me of those Japanese girls who would get really tanned and dye their hair white. For the life of me I can't remember the name. |

Muslim Fluttershy makes me kind of sad. Don't know why, but I just can't help but feel bad about her here. |
| Saufsoldat #1076081 4 months ago |
@039: It's reasonable to feel bad about muslim women. Kind of like feeling bad about a black person who supports the KKK or a child that supports NAMBLA. |
| Anonymous #1076103 4 months ago |
It's not just that should have to live a life of a typical muslim woman. Think also how easily Fluttershy can get terrified, and imagine if she had to worry not to anger Allah all the time... |
| I_Like_Your_Mane #1076128 4 months ago |
This is the best BURN I've seen in an art form against that horrible 'issue'.
At this point, I'd rather see colored humanizations and ethnic ones just for the variety's sakes. And for freedom of the artists. I fully support this. |
| Arne #1076134 4 months ago |
I don't like Muslim Fluttershy either, but it's because of the hijab. I think they don't look good on anyone, and the fact that a person would willingly make it part of a character design boggles my mind. |
| I_Like_Your_Mane #1076142 4 months ago |
Hijab fits someone shy like Flutters to me. |
| Saufsoldat #1076160 4 months ago |
Nothing about Islam fits Fluttershy. When has she ever been seen hiding beneath clothing in the show? When has she expressed belief in any higher power? When has she stated that stallions are superior to mares?
None of this ever transpired, religion has no place in MLP. This humanization may share the eye color of the pony Fluttershy from My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, and the color of her mobile tent may resemble the scheme of that pony, but that's it. |
| WatermelonRat #1076163 4 months ago |
And thus Saufsoldat demonstrates that yes, some people really are that stupid. I'd like to see him make a fool of himself some more, but I'm sure he's too busy making a manifesto on stormfront about how greed and trickery are inherent to Jewish nature or how black men are stealing away white women as part of a plot to destroy the white race. |
| Saufsoldat #1076169 4 months ago |
And thus WatermelonRat demonstrates his inability to tell the difference between race, an inherent trait of a human being that is unchangeable and hard-wired to our DNA, and religion, a conscious choice and worldview that every human is free to decide for himself.
Don't let logic stop you from spouting nonsense, though. |
| I_Like_Your_Mane #1076182 4 months ago |
It's fanart. Anything goes. Also, Hijab and 'ethnic' clothing are not necessarily religious at all. It's probably worse in the West where almost every name is religiously influenced but nobody cares. This stuff only gets notice whenever people keep bringing attention to it. |
| WatermelonRat #1076185 4 months ago |
I thought the definition of religion was "what Saufsoldat says you believe".
Don't kid yourself, this anti-muslim bigotry is in practice indistinguishable from old-fashioned racism. You're not judging people based on their individual beliefs, you're judging them on their identity as muslims (in many cases being "muslim-looking" is enough). You then assign the beliefs of the most extreme fundamentalists to them as justification for it. |
| mindcannon #1076191 4 months ago |
Who's gives a fuck what they make their human ponies' religion or skin color? |
| Saufsoldat #1076199 4 months ago |
@182: Quote from the picture "but to attack Fluttershy and her belief [cut off by other speech bubble]"
So it's definitely not just about clothes. Even if it were, it would still be fugly for no reason (though I guess some people have a fetish for that kind of attire). Names, unlike clothing are not a choice. You're practically born with them, so I don't see the connection. If someone wants to hide his or her scalp so badly, they should really go for the pirate look instead. |
| I_Like_Your_Mane #1076207 4 months ago |
That is why it is even worse. Western world is wrought with forced Christianity and people are either okay with it or are ignorant of it. There is double standard everywhere the more we are going to archetype something. |
| Saufsoldat #1076216 4 months ago |
@185: Weak troll is weak. No human is born with a religion. Someone who chooses Islam as his religion is either forced to do it (those people have my sympathy), stupid (those get a modicum of sympathy) or evil (those get nothing).
If you have read the Qu'ran and accept it as a guide for how to live your life (the prerequisite for being muslim), then there must be something very wrong with you or you're just not that bright. What makes religion so much more special than other ideologies? If I created a political party that had all the values of the Qu'ran or the Bible in its manifesto, it would not even be allowed in my country because it so severely violates the constitution. But somehow, as soon you add an imaginary friend into the equation, the whole ideology gets special protection and people like you white-knighting in its favor. And do cut the crap about fundamentalists. There are fundamentalists in all religions, but they're only a problem with the religion itself has questionable fundamentals. You won't see a fundamentalist Jain get violent, because the religion itself is inherent pacifistic. You will see fundamentalist muslims getting violent, because Islam itself is violent and has been that way right from the start. I am judging people based on what they tell the world about themselves. If they tell me that they're muslim, I must assume that they follow the teachings of a pedophile warlord, because that's what it means to be muslim. Maybe they're "moderate" muslims who simply ignore all the backwards shit in their holy book, but how can I be expected to assume that they only half-ass their religion? When someone tells you "I'm a nazi", do you judge him based on what everyone knows the definition of "nazi" entails, or do you suspend any judgement until you know his exact position on every little detail? Would it be wrong to assume that the person is anti-semitic or anti-democratic? Maybe he's a moderate nazi who doesn't do all the bad stuff that national socialism stands for. Stop treating religion like it has the right to be backwards and intolerant. |
| Saufsoldat #1076226 4 months ago |
@207: How is a name forced christianity? Just because a name like "Peter" was used in the bible, doesn't make it christian. The name itself is just derived from the Greek word for "rock".
The vast majority of names, while there may have been popular, religious figures with that name, have no inherent, religious connotations. To compare this to a fashion choice based on religious delusion is just ludicrous. |
| I_Like_Your_Mane #1076227 4 months ago |
Nobody said anything about Muslim religion being right or absolute. You're just shoving that mindset onto everyone.
That said, Christianity that's pervasive in cultures is just as bad and pushy in its own ways. Every religion is in fact backwards and to varying degrees, intolerant. |
| I_Like_Your_Mane #1076236 4 months ago |
>fashion choice based on religious delusion
It's because it's not necessarily a religious fashion statement. Some cultures can simply adopt it whether they're religious or not. Though the more extremist Muslims may try to force it, even if some day religious zeal dies down for Middle Eastern peoples, it's very likely stuff like Hijab would remain as cultural clothing. It's not too different from how many Western cultural aspects may have had a religious beginning (or still do) but it's not a fussed about thing as they've become something un-religious. You can't really say with any certainty that all people wear cultural clothing only because of religion. It's a grey line, since religion = culture to some people, but culture is still culture, whether religion fosters it or not. Some people may embrace Western clothing, some may not. Whether some people have the freedom to do so or not is moot. That's not the point. That's for the culture/religion to sort itself out. |
| Saufsoldat #1076239 4 months ago |
@227: I didn't assume anyone said that either, but I am assuming that a person, that labels itself as muslim, will believe Islam is the absolute truth. If he doesn't, then he's simply lying about being a muslim.
I really don't know why Christianity is always brought into any discussion about Islam. It's like the kid that gets in trouble and starts pointing out that the other kids were doing the same thing. That's not a reasonable excuse for anything. |
| I_Like_Your_Mane #1076255 4 months ago |
Because it's the same deal. Two sides of the same coin. Christianity got its cultural 'puberty' hundreds of years ago. Islam is having its issues nowadys. It's just unfair to label all the people who may be living through that nonsense when for everyday life for many people, religion doesn't really help. Everybody in this world is bullied either by religion or government. It's all the same in the end. |
| dethgrimm #1076286 4 months ago |
Man, you people really think too much. Take a breather. |
| Saufsoldat #1076287 4 months ago |
@255: Christianity had the luck of being widespread in Europe, the cradle of the enlightenment, aka modern civilization, so now we should cut Islam some slack? No, it doesn't work that way.
Every human is born equal, that is the central tenant of modern day morality. If someone can accept that, then everything else follows naturally. I will continue to argue against people and ideologies that fail to accept this basic truth. This includes Islam and Christianity and since they're dogmatic and therefore unchangeable, I will continue to criticize them until the day they vanish from the planet. Islam had a culturally and scientifically mature phase, shortly after it got started. Almost 500 years Greek thought was preserved by Arab scholars and many tried to reform the young religion, but eventually it all succombed to fundamentalist dipshits and has been in regression ever since. The muslim world had its shot and didn't make it, how many more centuries have to pass until I can finally say that Islamic culture is shit without having someone bring up christianity? The ideas of the enlightenment have been around since the 17th century and the global societies had more than enough opportunity to adopt it. How many more centuries do I have to wait until I can finally criticize Islam? |

I'm not one for ever insulting based on race but to assume I have to respect your ignorant religious delusions? Nope. |
| STeven923 #1076333 4 months ago |
I think plenty of people live somewhere where they never even met any real Muslim people. Out here in the city I've met and gone to school with plenty of Muslim immigrants and natives. The one thing I learned is that they are NO DIFFERENT FROM ANYONE ELSE. The ones who wear the headwear do tend to have had a more religious upbringing. Which no matter what religion tend to be more SHY. So this is a perfectly reasonable version of fluttershy. |
| Cherny_Pegas #1076378 4 months ago |

Pigtails, tall Dash, epic response, cute hijab Fluttershy. |
| Anonymous #1077389 4 months ago |
Islam's issue isn't the religion. It's the ass backward culture that takes itself too seriously. Christianity us actually just as ugly, considering the hundreds of years of crusades and Ireland torn apart for no reason. Also, vast majority if people are not religious, but just hemmed by their culture. Look at the tens of thousands of Middle Easterners dying for more freedom. Almost every peaceful citizens do not approve if warfare no matter the cause. Situation today is that Muslims are victimized by the radicals un their ranks. It does not need some racists pointing it out with so much bias. |
| bboifatz #1079617 4 months ago |
My train of thought here is pretty simple: Fluttershy doesn't wear a hijab in the show, so why would she as a human? Maybe if all the characters were interpreted as wearing hijabs it would be sort of understandable, however given that one of Fluttershy's most prominent design features is that she has the longest hair out of all the mane 6, it's strange to cover it up for the human version of her. |
