Easy!
1.) Rainbow Dash
2.) The fact that I'm not the only adult who watches it. Plus, Rainbow Dash is awesome!
3.) At first I was terrified about people finding out because the first 3 series were for girls, now I don't care who knows.
4.) I have 3, Rainbow Dash is #1, Ditzy Doo/Derpy Hooves is #2, and Applejack is #3.
Glad I could help!

1. Its enjoyable. That's it. I could crap on about the characters, the stories, the colours and all that other stuff, which would still be fine. But at the end of the day, it makes me smile and just turn out.

2. The creativity. I can't name any other fandom that gives background characters names and stories.

3.On the internet, yes. Outside, no.

4. Lyra.

1. The characters interacting and the few smile worthy funny moments. A bit of heartwarming and a less cynical view of the world than I used to have helps.

2. Just wanted to know what other people thought about this, that, and to see neat art. And stories.

3. Not more so than any OTHER kind of cartoon related fandom on the internet

4. Uhm... I can't pick just one. Let's just go with Octavia or Lyra for Background Pony or go with the safe answer: Derpy

I'm not your friend, pal! ;)

1.) It's funny and cute and very well animated.
2.) Funny and cute fanart.
3.) I'm very open about it and my friends don't really understand it (probably because they aren't that fluent in english), but I don't think there is a stigma to it.
4.) AJ, because of her southern dialect.

1. What draws me to the show? That's hard to say, but I see it like I see a regular cartoon, it's good, it's fun, and it makes you laugh. Why do I watch it? I can't get enough of it. :D
2. I didn't want to be a part of the brony community at first, I didn't even know there was a community for starters! I remember seeing the first two episodes out of sheer boredom and I was like "okay, this is good", then stuff happened and I am a brony now.
3. Yes, there is. But more on the Internet than in real life. In real life, people will just look at you and then walk away. On the Internet, you'll get stereotyped for everything you do. Though this is just my assumption.
4. EVERYPONY!

1. It makes me feel happy. Among other things.
2. Nothing in particular. I suppose I just got slowly drawn in. I used to frequent on Ponychan after discovering ponies (I was a tripfag for a few months), but not anymore. Ponibooru is the only place now where I have even some sort of name and even that is probably transient.
3. In the beginning there probably was, but now ponies are everywhere so I guess there are no stigmas anymore. I don't know any bronies and no-one around me knows I'm a brony either.
4. Rainbow Dash, of course!

1. Quality storytelling and interesting characters.
2. Most of my time is spent online, it only made sense to add MLP to my various online activities.
3. Not so much a stigma, but more that people don't quite know what to say when seeing a 20-something year old man walking down the street with a MLP shirt on.
4. Fluttershy, Twilight Sparkle or Rainbow Dash, depending on my mood at the time.

1. I enjoy a lot of things from the show. The stories, the comedy, the characters, the voice acting, the lessons are something good to think about, and I do find them very cute.
2. The fan-material. Also, wanting to share my opinion with other people.
3. The typical "little girls show are for little girls". I don't talk too much about ponies outside the internet, so I'm not sure how most of the people I know would react to it.
4. Rarity. Basically everything I said about the show on point 1 applies to her.

1 - It's funny and often pokes fun at itself.

2 - Nothing. The only step i made towards being in this fandom was setting up a named account on ponibooru. I avoid ponychan and sometimes lurk on EqD.

3 - Furries managed to overrun this fandom so i stopped talking about it with other people.
FFS... we even have a codename for masturbation.
There are very few ways it can get worse.

4 - PP because she's a totally unpredictable yet funny character.

1. I watch the show because: good voice acting, good animation, well made characters and good writing.
2. It kinda just happened.
3. Basically everyone whom I've told that I watch ponies (it's worth mentioning that I am very open about it) has found it wierd.
4. Twilight is best pony, cause Pinkie Pie said so.

1. There are a lot of good reason why I watch the show: The art is appealing, the animation is very well done, the stories are well written and I get this squeak feeling whenever I watch it.

2. Mainly to see more pony pictures. But also for the various fanon ideas. Lyra wanting to become a human, Derby, etc.

3. A lot of people look confused and ashamed when I talk about MLP. Some of my coworkers made fun of it first but over the time it actually became a thing and several server passwords are MLP related thanks to me. :D I'm still trying to avoid telling my brother about it. It's not easy to tell him about something I like without him making fun of it for the next 3 decades...

4. Pinkie Pie.

1) More happier look on life, but still not being overly childish. Good animation, voice acting and cute style helps as well.
2) I was interested of the fan works and maybe later I am going to post someting I made.
3) Well.. There probably is especially when it looks so cute and "girly" even if I hate to use that word. I just don't speak much of mlp outside of net.
4) Twilight or Applejack I like both of them a lot. But tbh they are all great gals.

1 - Colorfull happy animation! My life was lacking some of that since I stopped watching tv.

2- Memebase jokes were where I was introduced to the show. So I kind of got into the series THROUGH the online community.

3 - There is. But I don't really care.

4- None in particular. They are all unique and likeable for different reasons.

1. It's amusing and heartwarming without being too syrupy, to be concise. There are many qualities to it that I love, and lots of the fan material makes me happy. There's simply a lot of joy I find in the show.

2. It makes a lot of sense that one would seek out others who enjoy a show with friendship as its central focus. That's essentially what happened to me. These people have made the experience even more enjoyable.

3. There's always a stigma whether one admits it or not. I don't worry about it too much, but I'm not really comfortable mentioning it to many. I don't see it as a big deal for anyone to know, which I suppose is an argument both ways.

4. Twilight Sparkle. I love the whole mane cast, though.

I'm going to practice some bbcode while I'm at it. Hopefully it's still legible if I fail.
    1. What draws you to the show? Why do you watch it?
  • The colors and design was the initial draw. It was a Pinkie Pie gif from where she was trying to orchestrate Dash's movement of the cloud for the prank on Spike in Griffon the Brush-Off
  • Now, I watch it for the colors, the humor, the generally happy feel of the show, and for the characterization.

    2. What made you want to be a part of the online community?
  • I used to think that the Internet was a place where people let their latent evils come out. You've had a bad day at school or work, you haven't had a girlfriend ever, people pick on you and treat you poorly, you're broke, you already have some supported or unsupported stereotypes...I didn't want to talk to those people when a sense of cordiality and personal responsibility is removed, and the anonymity of the Web removes those aspects.
  • However, when I lurked some of the brony communities, I saw that most people were actually very nice to each other. Even beyond the "love and tolerance" honeymoon phase where many people "hug" everything in site (cwutididthar?), people were still nicer to each other than what I've seen in places that wasn't focused on FiM. Since I don't have many friends near me now, I decided to start posting on a couple of sites. I've enjoyed it on the whole.

    3. Do you believe there is a social stigma attached to being a brony? If so, how has this stigma affected you or people you know?
  • Most certainly. There are a significant number of bronies who enjoy grimdark, gore, and Rule 34 of a show directed primarily at young girls. These aren't unique to Bronies, but it is unique for this kind of show in these kind of numbers with this kind of popularity/notoriety. Young girls are one of the most innocent identities a human can have, and sex, violence, and death are some of the most sullying aspects of humanity. The cognitive dissonance of combining the two will drive a person removed from the situation to think you're sick, at best.
  • Only my friend's mother was particularly concerned. People don't usually worry about me in that way, because I'm fairly level-headed, but she was worried about my mental health to some extent. I can't be too concerned with that though, because everyone else that I've met since I've started watching the show or before then seems to think that I'm about the same person as I was before or that I'm as sane as most people.

    4. If you have one, who is your favorite pony?
  • ur momz is teh best pony trolololol Twilight Sparkle

Anyway, post a link in the comments when you're done, FeralSocks. I'll favorite this, so when you post your write-up, I'll be able to find it.

1: The things that draw me to the show is a combination of multiple things.
- For starters the animation is nice-looking and fluid. The colors are attractive yet timid - it dosn't become a "Neon-light hell".
- The chatacters feel alive. They have their flaws and strengths, virtues and habits. More importantly they grow and learn. The effects of their actions and learnings reach beyound a single episode and into the enxt (As seen with Reading Rainbow Dash).
- Finally the humor is great. Each pony have their own niche of humor which they bring into the show. Pinkie Pie is the classical "Looney" humor, Fluttershy is the withdrawn humor, AJ have more of a "Don't tell me what not to do" Humor and so on. When together all of the mane six adds a dynamic humorous enviroment, and that's not even counting for all of the background stuff and intertextural references throughout the show.

2: Not sure if I'm really a part of the community, at leat not an active one. I answer posts and gives input when I think I have something to add, but mostly I feel somewhat inferior to other bronies, since I cannot make mart, music or other things that can enrich the fandom as a whole.

3: Yes, I believe there is a stigma attatched. Regardless of how good the show is, it is (and was meant to be) a show for girls. Not to say that girl cartoons are inferior becaurse they are meant for girls, but more becaurse the writing of such shows traditionally follows a... "sickly sugary" storyline which tends to speak down to the viewers. This "little girl" stigma which have been attatched to the show is inadvertable attatched to its viewer. And hence onto me and every other brony. As for people's reaction to me being a brony; I don't see any diffrence. I don't walk around proclaiming to be a brony, but I don't lie if anyone asks me neither.

4: ...How? How am I supposed to choose? My favorite pony is, well, all of them, even for some of the background ponies. I love TL for her "adorkable" attitude, I love Aj for her "down to earth" attitude, I love RB for her guts to persue her dreams and to prove herself, I love FS for her timid and gentle nature, I love Rarity for her generosity (And the fact that she somewhat goes against the "selfish fashion-donna" steriotype) and PP... Admittably Pinkie Pie was the last pony I warmed up for, but that was becaurse it took bme a few episodes to truely get under her skin and understand her personality. I love her sorrowless outlook on life andoverall joy of, well, everything.

- The list could go on, but I'll stop here. Basically, my favorite is each of them, expecially together as they add something dynamic when in the same room.

1: I like the characters, the stories, and the humor of the show.
2: Boredom, mostly. I liked some of the fan art I saw on here and wanted to make comments or jokes, and figured that I might as well sign up if I was going to be doing that.
3: Maybe a slight one, but hardly a significant stigma. I don't think that with most people it would get you more than an odd look. I haven't really noticed much of one in my life. I haven't exactly been going around introducing myself as a brony, but well, it's a fandom centered around a show. It's not that significant a part of my life. If people ask what shows I like I mention this one, and after a follow-up question or two (usually along the lines of "Wait, what? You really watch My Little Pony?" that's usually the end of it.

1. Animation, characters, humor, and all the subtle pop-culture references.

2. The ability to share awesome Pony related stuff with my steam/FB friends.

3. There is a stigmata attached, but I honestly don't care if people know I'm a Brony: if being made fun of is the price I must pay to watch this awesome show, SO BE IT!
One of my friends hates ponies with a passion, so that lead to a really awkward conversation when he found out I loved ponies... but in the end, the magic of friendship prevailed!
4. Twilight Sparkle. Like her, I have a tendency to go batshit insane when under extreme pressure.

1- It is a cute show with good writing and does not pander. Also is a throwback to 90's style of serial cartoons.

2- No real thought needed. I like the show, so I can appreciate the fan art, music videos more. Funny enough, I was into the community before watching the show

3- Not by a whole lot. I lived through the stigma of being an anime and magical girl fan before. I guess some people are a bit put off by the sudden gigantic popularity of the show. Even if they know nothing about it.
4- Rarity. She shows more struggles of women and social pressures than most characters on TV. Plus, she makes being girly into something cool.

This may be kind of embarrassing, but

1: What draws you to the show? Why do you watch it?
Short answer: It entertains me without too much violence or use of adrenaline pumping music. That's a major draw for me in most things, so I regard the show as a curiosity in that respect. Plus, I get to catch a glimpse at a whole other world, that's always good.

2: What made you want to be a part of the online community?
Nothing, really, I just kind of bumped into it. However, I did get sort of "inspired" to be a bit more vocal on the internet, and I've started challenging myself, intellectually, more and more as a result.

3: Do you believe there is a social stigma attached to being a brony? If so, how has the stigma affected you or people you know?
Yes, but there's a stigma in belonging to any social group; most people believe that Christians are ignorant of the theory of evolution, for example. I haven't told a large amount of people that I'm a brony, but the ones I have either joined watching the show with me, or don't watch the show, but are totally cool with me and even joke with me about My Little Pony. My best friend, for example: He hasn't seen the show yet (I'm waiting for him to express a genuine interest in what the show's about), but both he and his girlfriend are totally cool with me dropping references. We even had a D&D session once where I made the boss, a necromancer, speak in rhymes like Zecora, they both really enjoyed that.

4: If you have one, who is your favorite pony?
That's a really good question! I don't have a favorite, but the closest thing to an answer I can give is that I feel I relate to Applejack the closest; The Princesses fascinate me because of how little we know about Alicorns; and it's just impossible for me to not enjoy anything involving Derpy Hooves.

Oh, I ran a survey and am getting ready to look at another portion of data, and many people say they don't have a favorite pony. I think you can see that here as well.

Personally, I usually say Twilight Sparkle most often, but it has been Rarity and Pinkie at times as well. I think it shows how well-written all of the characters are.

@Anon186
I think your post shows you have plenty to contribute to the enrichment of the community. We can't all be artists or some sort.

1: The online community got me interested, I actually didn't watch it for a while but when I did I found I enjoyed the characters and their interactions. I find some of the story lines themselves to be formulaic but I'm impressed with the overall concept. Furthermore, the Characters and how their emotional responses to events elicit a response from me. There's something simple but at the same time very Beautiful about the idea of a series that revolves around Characters who care for each other a great deal: Making the focus on that gives us conflicts and situations that are realistic and easy to identify with. Plus there are moments that genuinely make me laugh.

2: At first I looked into it out of curiosity but I find that the discussions about the show lead into interesting places and the jokes and memes are amusing.

3: There obviously is on some front, even in the online community, it seems obvious that there are elements that cross over with other boards: Some of these have made it apparent that they do not wish to be associated with Bronies. Seemingly out of Bravado and ideals of what the online community they identify with should and should not be. Whoop-De-Shit, Love and Tolerate.

4: No way I could pick one favorite, to fully appreciate the Ponies, you'd need to spend time with them as a group. Since it makes sense that a favorite Pony is one who you would want to spend time with by themselves to the exclusion of the others. Celestia comes close as she has the most independent personality of all the characters but I still don't think I could choose.

1) I thought the show was cute at first. I watched an episode and was able to attach to it easily because of it's quality when compared to the other shows that are on television. I never really watch cartoons because of their bad quality, but after watching the first episode of MLP, I thought "wow, better than I thought it would be!" And it just snowballed from there.

2) I figured "why not?" I thought that after seeing an image I liked or disliked I could say things like "that's awesome" or "that sucks" or "you're a shithead" and be able to see other opinions in response to my own.

3) As someone who watched a whole lot of Powerpuff Girls as a kid, shows never seemed to girly or feminine to me, so that whole idea wasn't a problem for me. But there is somewhat of a stigma behind it, but overall I think the majority of people don't really care. Or at least in my case they don't.

4) Applejack, simply because I love the whole hard-working girl with an attitude business. As a hard-working manual labor guy myself, I find that a bit more attractive as a personality than the other ponies. Also I've always loved Southern accents.

1. I remember seeing a bunch of YouTube Poops and videos based on it, and I read about the great 4Chan wars too. At first, I kinda dismissed it, but then I began watching the actual episodes and it really began to grow on me. I wasn't until later that I discovered the cult following behind it.

2. Mostly because of the sheer number of jokes and memes that formed from the show, even though I don't affiliate myself with the community all the time.

3. Yes, although I got over it pretty quickly since I watched a number of other "girly" cartoons like Powerpuff Girls. I honestly do not think many people in real life care either.

4. Twilight Sparkle, because she's basically a female pony version of myself. It's almost disturbing how similar I am to her in real life. However, I like them all.

1: I watched it after reading about it on Know Your Meme and was surprised by the great animation and excellent voice acting as well as the interesting, well-developed characters.

2: I wanted to see other people's view on the show and its characters.

3: Yes, because MLP is generally associated with young girls. I get by by not mentioning my Brony-ness unless someone straight up asks me, and simply ignoring haters who probably have no idea what the show is about anyways.

4: Big Macintosh, Scootaloo and Fluttershy are pretty nice.

1. I checked it out after someone mentioned it on 4chan's /vp/. I found it to be very enjoyable and cute(I have a massive soft spot for cuteness).

2. I just fell into the community myself. I do love seeing all the fanart as well.

3. Stigma, what's that? XD (I know what stigma is, just making a dumb joke) Stigma like this is for stereotyping, I pay it no mind.

4.I like alot of them, but I will tell you the ones I most fond of: Fluttershy, Twilight Sparkle and Pinkie Pie.

2. The idea behind a total reversal of your average hate-filled person online.

1) At first, my interest was aroused by finding out that Tara Strong was the voice of Twilight Sparkle. I absolutely love her voice. I figured I'd give the first episode a shot, and found out it was a two-parter. By the time Princess Luna was purified, I'd fallen in love with the characters and quality of the animation.
2) Online? I saw all the fun the YouTube commenters seemed to be having, and figured it was worth seeing what all the extra fuss was about.
3) I haven't actually told any non-immediate family members about it, though they've probably caught at least a glimpse of me scrolling through the Bronies pages on Memebase. So yes, I think there is at least som stigma attached to it, but like all stigma it will pass when those who refuse to give it up eventually die.
4) Favorite pony? Can't say I really have a favorite-favorite. I don't pay much attention to secondary characters, and I can identify with at least one aspect of each of the Mane Cast, so... Well, if I absolutely had to choose, I'd probably say Fluttershy, since I'd sooner snuggle with her than any other pony, and she'd probably be most receptive to such a request anyway.

1) I was bored. I was supposed to a test and naturally, I was surfing in YouTube. Then I saw the first episode in the sidebar and thought "meh, why not". Before I knew it, I was watching the sixth episode. I like the animation and the plot is more interestingh than most cartioons now-a-days, that's why I stay.

2) I don't think I'm a member of this commutity, I've never cotributed anything.

3) I think it does. This is a girl's show after all, so guys are being labeled for watching it. It like the "girl gamer" thing all over again. It's never affected me really, other than my mom laughs at me, even though I'm a girl.
