I just don't think it's logical to assume that Derpy, who's a contestant in the best young fliers competition, has two daughters. |

@Simlun: I don't think the rules for the Sisterhooves Social race are all that strict. AppleJack and Sweetie Belle are not sisters yet but nopony complained when they took the start-line together. |

POSSIBLY: Derpy is Dinky's mother. Derpy "adopted" Sparkler or something. Leaves the ages the same, still technically sisters, explains age of Sparkler. Just a suggestion, if reason is needed. |

Uuuh, it was shown that it was not to be blood sisters or sisters at all in the ep.
For all we know no of the ponies that competed were sisters. We know for a fact one pair wasn't, sweetie and applejack. |
