It's only offensive if you lack a Y chromosome. Seriously, think about it. Of all the countless classic cartoon characters depicted as stupid for the sake of comedy, how many of them were female? |

^ you raise an interesting point |

I always considered Derpy to be a male.. He just had feminine features.
When I heard him talk, I said, YES! I was right! |

Ditzy (yes, Ditzy) isn't a "beloved family friendly icon", she's a joke background character.
And Fairly Oddparents fucking sucks anyways, so who cares? |

>Derpy isn't even portrayed as being dumb
>People get so worked up that to point out hypocrisy we use images of characters actually portrayed as being dumb Yep, makes perfect sense. |

The fact that Tabitha St. Germaine assumed that the character was male in the first place proves my point even further. It never even occurred to her that a character with that kind of personality could be female. Don't get me wrong, I have the utmost respect for her, it's just a symptom of a larger social problem. |

Fairly Oddparents was on of the only cartoons I liked as an adult until MLP aired. |

Actually I believe it likely had more to do with some people preferring fanon that had Derpy as intelligent despite appearances and the episode blowing that away. |
