Agreed. I didn't even know someone was getting attacked until he said something. I reckon a lot of us didn't know. And now since there's a "cause" to go correct someone who is "wrong on the internet", people are taking it upon themselves to go on a holy war and "correct" Yamino's views. |

I'm just the opposite. Seeing all this only causes me to add onto the phrase "Love and Tolerance" with "Praise and Forgiveness". General Love or everyone, Tolerance for what I don't agree with, Praise for the good and/or agreeable things within the whole of something I may not agree with, Forgiveness for the things that are in my power to fix and/or should be fixed. |

Which is unfortunate. As much as we like to believe we have something over other fandoms, yeah, the truth is we're still just like the rest of 'em.
But! That doesn't mean we should give up so easily! I'm not pressuring you out of your niche here, if you don't like those phrases anymore it's perfectly fine. But for myself, I'm gonna try spreading these additions around, see if they catch on anywhere. If done correctly there's a good chance they'll improve things, even for a short while like the original statements of Love and Tolerance. |

Yamino's 15 minutes of fame are over, yes, but I agree she did deserve the explosion in the first place. She shuts down actual disabled constantly, and has done so for months in the lead-up. (See BDR and Niels' comments about 300-350 in)
It reminds me of how many white womyn are in/supporting the NAACP in my city... "STFU you dumb niggas and let us do the speeches, you can't possibly be expected to engrish properly. Ebonics can't impress the people we need to impress!" You see the same BS with any other form of 'social justice' really, the outliers without the condition use it to batter the things they hate. Read the wiki for and then do some research on Ralph Bakshi and Coonskin, for example. Actual black ppl thought he got the tone of harlem right, having grown up there, and that it was a 'powerful black movie' even though it was made by a white guy. It was the Yaminos of race relations that went apeshit over it, and guess what, like 98% of them were white and the rest were sycophants to the white ones. (The 'token minority friend,' such as the ones Yamino continually defends herself with. Worse, "manchilds" are becoming valid insults to some of our fandom. Wrong. Anyone saying 'manchild' as an insult are brain dead. People slinging around and hurling insults at fandoms are worse than the worst fanboys. Getting stuck up over fandom is really a black hole of uselessness. That said, other fandoms probably would have reacted way worse than this. As in DDOS attacks or flooding, etc. Anime fans in Japan even go as far as vandalizing anime studios, stalking voice actors and being a real life menace. MLP fandom is not even CLOSE to that. |

Love and tolerance is nice but that doesn't mean "Lay down, and take it". Yamino voiced her misinformation to her little white knights. In one post she claims she's an "Amplifier". Even celebs know this is wrong to do which is why you don't see celebs asking their fans to go off, and write angry letters about what "Might" be offensive to a small majority. People have been making very good points to her, and she just ignores them. She's not an advocate for the disabled. She's just holding us back from being accepted. She's more or less just saying "Get back into the shadows! You need protecting!". Seriously... Derpy was as positive as representation could ever be. There's currently a petition with a goal of 35 thousand signatures, and last I checked it was pretty close to being full. Every comment on it is full of love for the character. People who are disabled are speaking out in defense of Derpy. There may be people over-reacting but Yamino IS taunting people, and she is being intolerant, and unaccepting which started this whole mess. She's offended more disabled than anything which is ironic to her whole argument. Derpy need's to be brought back, and Yamino need's to let us disabled defend ourselves because honestly she is horrible representation for us. |
