For the record, According to the wonderful State of Michigan, I belonged in Special Ed in school (but I was never in that class). They said I have ADHD or some shit back in 2002 when they diagnosed me. I know I don't have downs or something else, but I am fucked in the head.
Now that I said that, I don't find derpy offensive. Yamino is just a Weeaboo that has too much time on her hands to argue about something that is actually worth arguing about like global warming and other important shit like that. Cartoon horses are not that important. |

Ah, but you see, there's another gap in that argument. While I agree that anyone who supports Yamino's argument must have the same argument in their hearts, the flaw is that just because someone is supporting Yamino him/herself doesn't mean they support Yamino's arguments. ...Which I realize now that you probably weren't even saying that. In which case, I do agree. However, in the case that you were saying that, I'll be arguing that someone might just be supporting Yamino in general just because it's to give someone who's been taking a lot of flak by those who believe they know better a little comfort. And maybe through that comfort convince Yamino that something's clearly not right, and remedy that in a calm and peaceful fashion. But, again, you may not have been implying that at all, so in which case I agree and be quiet on the subject. |

I think supporting yamino just because yamino is taking flak is a bad thing.
It's letting yamino continue to be an annoyance. We hav to make it clear that hypocritical "OMG I AM OFFENDED BY THIS AND THAT" is not acceptable. These days people think any kind of relational aggression is inherently bad. Relationaly aggression is absolutely essential if you want to get people to shut up about how character X is offensive. It's alright for Yamino to think that, but being vocal about it is something we should respond with accordingly with our own vocalness. |

If effort was actually made to understand her perspective it would easily seem to make sense. And if her tone seems off to you, remember that she has been being spammed with hate for quite some time. She's bound to be irritable.
From her comments it seems she and her disabled friends found it a negative portrayal when they wanted something more positive. So she went and voiced their opinions. I see nothing wrong in any of those actions, especially seeing as how they were not an especially vocal minority. It was a highly vocal majority that even called attention to their existence in the first place. |

Jar Jar could have been good but Lucas doesn't know how to write for shit. Also part of a shamefully missed moral, DON'T ELECT DERPS TO POSITIONS OF POWER (something we still can't seem to stop doing.)
I guess the Ponyville equiv would be Derpy being elected mayor and then welcoming Nightmare Moon with open arms under the belief that meant "Yay, we don't have to sleep anymore, now we can stay up forever" and all the other ponies are like "Wait, what the hell did we just do?" anyway I like the oddball fandom pairing of Jarjar and Padme, it just seems more erhm...everything. More energetic, more romantic (because Jar Jar has actual emotions), more RomCom (stuffy icy child-queen hooking up with the goofy broke guy), more sexytime (lol dat tongue), they even speak with each other more often in the first movie, while there is nothing to indicate Anakin and Amidala see anything each other as anything past allies against the feddies in the first! it just seems to work better on all fronts. So the way the prequels work for me is, Padme thinks Anakin is/has become too big a doucher after their drunken bad-poetry-laden two week stand, and she hates that he takes it so seriously and is so bloody possessive, but can't bear the thought of terminating her ill-thought-out pregnancy and just leaving normally. So she decides to have the childen and then fakes her own death during childbirth to continue seeing Jarjar on the side, as well as exit the political scene. And how did THAT work out for the galaxy at large? And now the movie is 50% better with no dialogue/scene changes whatsoever. |

Seriously... "Close family, and friends who are disabled". I don't think I need to even say anything about how obvious it is when someone lies to try to justify their argument. She's not disabled but she somehow can feel what people she knows would feel in her shoes? Lol. Nope. The ONLY people who are disabled who have made ANY comments on Derpy have all been positive. Youtube is full of video's of people who are talking about this. Some people who are even sharing their experiences from their life about their disabilities, and how they wish they had Derpy in a show growing up. This Yamino bullshit is frustrating as all hell. She acts like she's some god sent advocate to the disabled when really she's sent from hell to make us all look like we shouldn't exist in tv shows... It's people like her that ruined this gift to us. She didn't like it then she should have just appreciated that it was given in the first place. Nope. Time to make up a story about having close family, and friends who are disabled so that my opinion can be claimed as fact without any actual proof! |
