An early idea for CDs was to have them in caddies like Laserdiscs.
Sony MiniDisc adopted the caddy system, but flash drives became too popular for those things to really catch on. Also, MiniDisc was only for audio, and very highly restricted with heavy DRM modeling. Flash MP3 players won out. |
