"So, I made this for the "Unknown Sibling Contest" where the goal was to come up with the missing link between Blueblood, Celestia, and Luna. We were to create a third sister/brother and explain what their role was as a monarch of Equestria (i.e. Celestia raises and lowers the sun). To answer the question, I give you Princess Gaia
I've decided that this princess would be the oldest of the three sisters and that she would control the last celestial body unaccounted for, that being the planet itself. To be specific, she has majesty over all the flora and fauna in the world. As the oldest sibling, this would make sense as controlling and protecting the very land everypony lives on is probably the biggest responsibility and takes a massive amount of commitment which is probably why we don't see her during the show's premise. This brings us to Blueblood. Due to the importance of such a task, I would imagine that his mother would not have that much time to spend with him. This might account for his douche bag attitude which is a psychological response to being neglected while growing up. Also, being that his mother is probably the highest ranking sister between the three princesses, it is understandable that he would have developed the snobbish attitude that we see in the Best Night Ever season finale. Now, as I mentioned earlier, this princess would probably be the highest ranking royal in Equestria, so I accounted that while designing her and gave her the largest and most-detailed tiara and necklace of the three sisters. Also, like the two other sisters (Luna's Nightmare Moon mane in this case), I wanted to design her mane in such a way where it would be significantly special and unique. I originally wanted it to be something wavy like Celestia's mane but I couldn't figure out a proper way to do it, so instead I just gave her a more earthly mane composed of fine strands of vine and leaves." |
