America isn't some kind of perfect country. Just because it's first world doesn't mean tons of people don't die at random. It may not be happening in the name of war but it happens. First world just means that a lot of us are able to focus on some less-important problems because the rest of them are pretty much solved. But we've definitely got our own share of hunger issues and violence issues.
That being said, if anybody else was lucky enough to be in a situation where we can complain about ponies then they would. I think the reason Derpy is such a particularly huge issue is that she's such a beloved character that this is a particularly egregious example of really bad censorship because of a couple of assholes. This has been a problem for decades and it always will be. I doubt as many people would have been mad if this was the only instance in history of this happening. |
