Unfortunately, it was Hasbro that ordered the change. Sibsy said so. Now whether it was Apple's bitching that caused Hasbro to lower the banhammer is unclear. Nonetheless, Derpy's gone. And chances are pretty good StudioB/DHX is currently being forced to go back and underp Derpy's eyes in every single episode. At the very least we can infer there will be no Derpy appearances in Season 3, at least not with her eyes derped. I'm honestly starting to cry right now. |

Actually, interesting note: Irregardless has actually been accepted as a word now, just like with Dr. Seuss' name. It's actual way to say it is "soyce" but everyone kept saying "soos" to the point where he just caved and changed the official pronunciation to "soos". Likewise people kept using "irregardless" to such a degree that Webster's just said "screw it. It's a word now happy?" |

A) Derpy wasn't renamed. She's officially nameless now, just as she was before the episode aired.
B) They didn't do anything to her eyes. She's still our loveable wall-eyed pegasus. C) Nothing disappears on the Internet. The original version will last in perpetuity, as the "underground" version that fans "in the know" will share with their friends, even if it "offically" no longer exists. If anything, this is a gift to the fandom, their own private interpretation of the character that the writers shared with them. D) And trolls are gonna troll. Just ignore them, folks. E) It'll happen. Hell, I think the new voice is actually a shout-out to the fandom. Most of the fan-projects involving Derpy have given her a cute, girly voice, much like the new voice they've given her. She may no longer be an officially named pony, but her voice, appearance and mannerisms are pretty much exactly what the fans created. |
