The episode will remain the same on the DVD, meaning that on the battle for Derpy being still canon, the score is 1-1. It's going to come down to whether the episode is changed or not when it replays on tv. If it's still the original, then we can just say iTunes is trying to protect themselves, and we just won't buy that version. If it [i]is changed, then we email Hasbro and ask them for their reasoning behind this, noting how there were plenty more in support of Derpy than there were against here. Okay, now that I can actually type with a level head again, I have to say this.
A while ago, Hasbro told the fandom that Derpy was still Derpy. Going by the state of the DVDs containing the episode, that's apparently holding true so far. I think waiting until the episode has a rerun to see which version airs (Derpy, or non-Derpy) would be the best thing to do. Unless someone from Hasbro could confirm what happened. |

It could be just iTunes being bullshit about it, using an edited version. However, I do not see that as likely without someone from Hasbro actually getting a new recording for the voice AND approving the edit.
I expect if it was Hasbro, the only reason we still hav that DVD like that is because they havn't changed it yet or won't cause it's already out. The big threat is future episodes with NOT EVEN DERPED EYES. |

I called my mother and my younger sister who is only 10 years old. We all love My little Pony. So I told them they changed Derpy, gave every detail.
My mother is shocked, but she told my sister started crying a bit. not surprising considering Derpy was her favorite pony and looked forward to finding Derpy in every new episode and I even drew a Picture of Derpy for her during my last visits to my mothers. Happy now to those who wanted this change? |

See, the voice doesn't bother me, If they make her name Ditzy again, it doesn't bother me either.
But they edited her name out completely, and changed her trademark eyes. All this while we and them both seemed aware of her significance as a fan icon, and Hasbro making a statement about not changing her. I don't blame anyone, I don't even blame Hasbro. But we deserve to know the why. |

Well, watching the video, it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. The voice is ok, I can understand dropping the name drop, and you can see her derp eyes a few times, especially near the beginning. Hasn't there been a thing where her focusing could lead to her eyes sorta normalizing, as a way to explain the times when she's not derp-eyed?
Still, massively disappointing, especially as Derpy's my favourite pony. |
