For those of you who don't live in North America, Toaster Strudels are Pillsbury's answer to Kellogg's Pop-Tarts. They are pre-processed flaky pastries with a fruit filling (and an included icing pack) that are sold & stored frozen and must be heated up in your toaster to be edible. The ads for them on TV constantly bash Pop-Tarts and people who like them. However, Pop-Tarts have two distinct advantages: You're not required to store them in a freezer, and you don't have to heat them up if you don't want to (in fact they're often better at room temperature or colder). Both products are targeted to kids but I know plenty of busy adults who eat them. |

You just can't let the toaster strudel thaw out, they fall apart too easily until you finish the baking process from frozen in your toaster. Try doing it thawed and you'll wind up with a pile of dry crumbs and strips of dry jelly in your hands. |
